ROLLING WHEELS RACEWAY GETS BUSY THIS SUNDAY NIGHT

STUDENTS 18 AND UNDER ARE FREE

WEEDSPORT, NY_ On the heels of one of the more exciting races in recent memory at Rolling Wheels Raceway on May 2nd with Brett Hearn, eventual winner Billy Decker, Danny Johnson and Jimmy Phelps slugging it out for 60 laps, the "Fast Track" will open for its second race on the 2010 schedule this Sunday night, June 6, highlighted by the DIRTcar Modifieds in a 50 lap event.

Rolling Wheels Raceway, one of the premier short tracks in the northeast, is a big five eighths mile with high speeds and terrific side by side racing. DIRTcar Northeast is also looking to help the youth as well. Students 18 and under for the month of June will be admitted FREE not only Rolling Wheels Raceway, but Canandaigua Speedway and Cayuga County Fair Speedway as well.

"We'd like to help our students by offering them free admission to our race tracks for the month of June," said DIRTcar Northeast General Manager Cory Reed.

"We realize that the future of our sport depends on our young fans. Giving them a break at the admission gate would also allow us to entertain new fans and show them what a dynamite product we have to offer. "

Rolling Wheels Raceway has a history for excitement. It was an event in July of 1993 when Danny Johnson took out a backup car from another team in a 100 lap Super DIRTcar Modified Series event and won from the 34th starting position, making the winning pass on the final turn of the final lap. Anyone who saw a short track event for the first time on that particular night instantly became a race fan for life.

"When my father first started taking me to the race track" continues Reed. "I used to stand up against the pit fence and watch my favorite drivers. It was such an exciting time in my life. We want our young fans to realize that short track racing is an exciting sport. "

"We have great entertainment, the food is great and we are allowing our students to come in and see it free of charge."

In addition to Decker's win on Sunday, May 2nd Tim Sears Jr. won the DIRTcar Sportsman feature and Frank "Bubba" Burnell won the DIRTcar Stock Car main.

Along with the DIRTcar Modifieds, the DIRTcar Sportsman and DIRTcar Stock Cars will also run this Sunday night. Adult admission is $16. Senior citizens $14. Active Military is $7 and students/children 18 and under is free. Race time is 7pm. Pit gates will open at 4pm and grandstand gates at 5pm.
