By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media

After a tremendous series of hot laps for all divisions whet the appetites of the good crowd on for the Saturday night racing card, the forces of Mother Nature quickly rolled into the area and quickly doused out the hope to beat the impending storms and the Smith Family was forced to cancel out the entire racing program for the evening. Promoter Randy Smith refused to yield after the first storm pelted the speedway and did his best to whip the speedway back into shape but a storm behind the storm proved to be too powerful a foe on this night of racing. The racing schedule will remain in-sync with the current schedule and the wingless portion of the 270 Sprints scheduled for tonight will be moved to August 18th. The speedway will honor the wristbands for a three week period.

Hamlin Speedway has enjoyed a spectacular season all around in 2012 as the racing has been over the top with each division putting it's best foot forward in regards to excitement and crowd pleasing performances. With car counts averaging 140 per week, the fans are treated to a well rounded show and the roster of driving stars is sound proof the future of auto racing in the small car racing divisions is thriving. Despite the cancellation, the speedway had ran through twelve consecutive shows since the opening night rainout back on April 21st.
