Hamlin, PA - Hamlin Speedway Welcomes The National All Star Slingshot Tour This Saturday
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
The Hamlin Speedway will roar back into action Saturday night, September 12th, with a full night of racing activity scheduled. The Pocono Mountain 1/5th mile clay cushioned oval will once again play host to the touring stars of the National All Star Slingshot Tour. The upcoming program will be a regular seven division show with special emphasis on the highly competitive and popular All Star Slingshot division. The event once again brings together the best of the best in the small car divisions as the stars of the National Slingshot Tour will head into town to challenge the stars of the Hamlin Speedway in an all out shoot-out with the speedway acting as the battleground for the showcased confrontation. The racing will feature the tour mandated dual heat format with the top 24-cars moving into a 50-lap feature event that will pay the winner $1,000.00 in victory circle. The evening of speed will be sponsored by S&S Speedways Indoor Go Karts located in the Snydersville, Pennsylvania.
The standing room only crowds all season long have been treated to some great racing action in all divisions as the solid roster of weekly participants have given their all to entertain their loyal racing fans. Additional new faces have been arriving on a weekly basis to tackle the speedway regulars and with some tracks already shutting down for the season and this being a tour event, it is expected more talent will be in the house to attempt to place their names in the record books at Hamlin.
The invading stars of the National Slingshot Tour are headed up by the reigning National Slingshot Champion Dylan Hoch. Hoch (1268), residing in Mertztown, Pennsylvania, is leading in points by a narrow five point margin over another former National Champion in Bangor's "The Captain" Cody Kline (1263). Kline doubles as a former Hamlin Speedway Champion. Former National Slingshot Tour champion, "The Oley Jet" Brett Bieber (1184), is currently in third place in points while former Hamlin Regular Louden Reimert (1145) is fourth and last week's winner at the Accord Speedway Dillon Steuer (1042) is fifth. A trio of Minnesota drivers rank 6th, 7th and 8th and local driving star Henry Anderson (747) ranks in ninth place. Anderson is from nearby Mount Cobb. Rounding out the top ten is former National Champion Cody Kline (889), Empire State star Demetrios Hellertown's Anthony Raisner (721). Additional drivers expected in are Erick Jones, Andrew Kreis, William Mohring, Seth Spayd and Kyle Gruber.
The hometown stars at Hamlin will counter with "The Ambassador" Wes Hearn, who has been on fire all season long in both the All Star and Super Slinger divisions ranking first and second respectively in his divisions. Many time track champion "The Oxford Express" Dale Kober leads the track points in the Super Slinger rankings and is second in All Star points. A trio of New Yorkers are next in line as "Kid Wicked' Tyler Pirone is third in Hamlins point and has scored three wins to date. "The Otisville Outlaw"" Corey Cormier has been a great arrival at the speedway in 2015 with great finishes and a tour win earlier in the season. "The Big D" Daniel Morgiewicz is having break-out rookie season in the All Star Slingshots at Hamlin. Sixth place driver and former track champion "The Mack Attack" Mack Brink captured the opening night feature at Hamlin and has been strong all season long. "Magic Shoes" Mike McLaughlin has been strong all season long and recently scored a win while being seventh in the point standings. Another newcomer to the Hamlin scene, Austin Silfee, has been in the hunt all season long and is seeking his first win. Ninth place driver "The Closer" Mike Fogler is always up to the task whether it is a long distance event or just a 20 lapper. The reigning Junior National Slingshot Champion, Damon Paul, is another of the talented New York drivers who come to the speedway to win. Additional drivers expected in are Jeff Cosgrove, Alan Selemba, Chloe Andreas, Hunter Metzger, Ryan Neiger, Chris Kurtz, Russell Benke, Tess Horvath, recent back to back winner at Hamlin "Kid Ice" Cole Hentschel and a host of others will provide the opposition when the Slingshot wagon train rolls into the quaint little town of Hamlin.
With just two shows remaining in the season, those with aspirations for a track title at Hamlin will have to be at their best level of performance to make a run for the division crown and hope their competition will come up a bit short in their bid to be champion. While some of the divisions have already been settled, the point battles that remain could change dramatically with one bad showing. It is expected that all contenders will be ready to go when the green flags drops on Saturday night.
As the 2015 racing season is quickly coming to a close, the final racing date of the season will be September 19th date with all divisions in action.
