Sidewinder Sprints – Susquehanna 07/03 – Salony takes it twice
With the hottest and most humid night of the season greeting the Sidewinder teams to celebrate the July 4th Holiday, the on track action was fast and furious.
The first feature saw multiple leaders with Don Harvey seemingly making the long tow from New York worthwhile by taking the checkers first. However post race tech showed that Don did not have the required harder spec tires on the rear and he was disqualified. This allowed Reed Salony to pick up the win with Mike Zielonis coming home in 2nd. Earlier in the action Rich Halter took some evasive action and spun in turn one unfortunately collecting Tanner Hunsicker causing enough damage for Tanner to be forced to call it a night.
The second feature saw Reed Salony take charge from his outside row starting position and lead all the laps. Rich Halter came home in 2nd but had a brain fade and forgot to go directly to tech. As a testament to Rich’s integrity, he actually called the penalty upon himself and was subsequently relegated to the last position of the finishing cars. Rohan Beasley was subsequently awarded the 2nd position.
This coming Saturday night (07/13/13) will see the Sidewinders heading back to Path Valley and with more teams indicating their attendance we should be in for plenty of action on the high banked quarter mile oval.
This week’s question;
Q. Having a weekend off before another Susky appearance on Wednesday 3rd to celebrate the July 4th holiday, will the July 3rd show see a repeat from either Salony or Zielonis ?
A. Yes, Reed Salony over achieved by winning both features after Don Harvey failed post race tech in the first feature by running soft rear tires.
Next Week’s Question;
Q. The high banks of Path Valley will see the return of the Sidewinders. So far this year Jason Stahl, Rich Halter and Mike Zielonis have been the masters. With Jason still chasing snowflakes downunder, will either Rich or Mike be able to take the wins again ?
Ride along with Rich; Rich Halter has kindly posted more in car action. This time you get to ride along and hear the impact of Tanner Hunsicker in the 1st feature. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hs1QJgufJqk&feature=youtu.be
