Carl Bowser Racing Takes on Auto Racers for Kids Fundraising Challenge
Sarver, PA (May 4, 2011) – Auto Racers for Kids and Mercer Raceway Park have issued a challenge: which team can raise the most money for the Erie-based charity by May 28, 2011?
As the 2009 Driver of the Year for Auto Racers for Kids Charities, Carl Bowser and his team have a strong tie to the organization and will take their best shot at being the team with the most donations.
“We’ve been involved with Auto Racers for Kids since the beginning and we were very excited when we heard about the challenge,” Bowser said. “It’s important for racers to give back to the community, and this is just another way we can do that by supporting Auto Racers for Kids.”
The challenge will culminate at the Auto Racers for Kids Sprint Car Shootout on May 28 at Mercer Raceway Park, where the donations will be tallied and Bowser will compete in the $5,000-to-win main event.
In 2009, Carl Bowser and graphic designer Mike Shick designed a limited edition car with the Auto Racers for Kids theme to raise awareness for the charity.  The team offered the wing as a fundraising tool, collecting signatures on it in exchange for donations to the charity.  The wing was also donated to Auto Racers for Kids.
“The team had a lot of fun in 2009 creating a limited edition car and collecting signatures to raise money for the charity,” Bowser said.  “We thought this was another great way to extend that partnership,”
The 24-year-old driver is no stranger to community involvement. During the 2010 offseason, Bowser was invited to support The Tom Siple Foundation, an organization that provides outdoor adventures for disabled youth, by attending the group’s annual benefit dinner and auction. During the event, Bowser collected donations in exchange for signatures on a wing sideboard, which he then donated to race-loving youth affected by muscular dystrophy.
Fans can help Carl Bowser Racing raise money for Auto Racers for Kids Charities by donating to the cause at or in person at local speedways. For contributions $10 and greater, donors will receive a signed Carl Bowser Racing autograph card.
All proceeds from 2011 Auto Racer for Kids Charities fundraising will go to the children’s program at Community Shelter Services in Erie.
