Satterlee, Claycomb & Maglet First Time Dog Hollow Winners
N. CAMBRIA, PA (July 3) - Dog Hollow Speedway beat Mother Nature and completed another night of racing on Scanlan Chiropractic Night with 110 cars signed in. Drew Satterlee (Stoystown Auto Wreckers FASTRAK Late Models), Ryan Claycomb (Texas Auto Ranch 4 Cylinders) and Mark Maglet (Modified 4 Cylinders) all capture their first feature wins of the season. Repeat winners were Rick Strong (Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Models), Nick Goss (Valenti’s Excavating Street Stocks) and Davey Lee (Brush Valley Tire Pure Stocks).
Joe Martin led the first two laps of the Stoystown Auto Wreckers FASTRAK Late Models before Drew Satterlee took over on lap three. Satterlee then went on to lead the final 16 laps to score his first feature win of the 2009 season at Dog Hollow. Tommy Snyder worked his way up from seventh to take second. Behind Satterlee and Snyder at the finish were Kirby Tucker, Jr., Joe Martin, Bryan Force, Ron Smithley, Tyler Dietz, Bernie Whiteford, Mike Laughard and Troy Shields. Whiteford and Bryan Force grabbed heat wins.
Rick Strong may have led all 20-laps of the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Models but he had his hand full doing so. Strong jumped out into the lead at the start of the feature and Clate Copeman quickly grabbed second. Copeman chased Strong until he clipped the slowing car of Sam Stiffler doing major body damage on lap nine. Stile passed Copeman as this was happening as the race stayed green. Stile closed the gap on Strong and the two warriors went at it. Stile threw everything he could but Strong was able to hold him off for his second win of the season. Dane Laraway stole second from Stile on the final lap. Stile, Rick Davis and Copeman were the top five. Sixth through tenth were Rodney Phillips, Ron Delano, Jr., John Britsky, Billy Eash and Luke Hoffner. Qualifying heats went to Laraway, Stile and Phillips.
John Mazey took of from the pole in the Brush Valley Tire Pure Stock feature and led the first two laps. Jeremy Shaffer muscled his way past Mazey to lead the next seven laps. Coming out of turn four on the lap 11 Shaffer spun handing the lead over to Davey Lee. Lee went uncontested the final four laps to score his second feature win this season. Rich Powell, Matt Summers, Ray Hickok, Jr., Adam Laughard, Mike Silk, Gary Shaffer, Bobby Noel, Kyle Hamilton and Jeremy Shaffer were the top ten. Hickock and Jeremy Shaffer were the heat winners.
The Texas Auto Ranch FWD 4 Cylinder feature saw Johnstown’s Ryan Claycomb led the only lap the counts. David Rocker took off like a rocket at the start of the 12-lap feature that saw only one caution. Rocker looked to be on his way to his second win when Claycomb closed in. Coming out out of turn four on the last lap Rocker pushed up and Cl aycomb went by for the win. Rocker held on for second over Matt Weakland, Adam Pletcher, Paul Little, Mark Kepple, Brent Sholtis, Tyler Laughard, Joey Gombach III and Wes McKeel. Brent Sholtis, Adam Oldfield and Adam Pletcher grabbed heat wins while Chris Yoder won the B-Main over Marty Lechner, Dan Sholtis, Rick Lamer and Tom Whiteford.
Mark Maglet led from start to finish to earn his first Modified Four Cylinder feature this season. Chris Hickok was all over Maglet but could not find a way around and settle for second over Tom Pavelko, Randy Reed and Robert Lydic. Reed won the lone heat.
Punxawtawney’s Nick Goss earned his fourth feature win of the year in the Valenti’s Excavating Street Stock feature. Jim Boyer took the lead on the opening lap looking to make it two wins in a row. Boyer looked strong and held off a fast closing Goss until lap twelve. Boyer then tried his best to get back around Goss but could not settling for second. Tim Laughard, Denny Keener, Scott Good, Steve Barnes, Gary Furman, Jr., Phil Leddon, Randy Wilkonson and Charlie Trice filled out the top ten. Heat wins went to Goss and Laughard.
