Repeat winners included: Sam Stile of Charleroi in the Townsend Gas and Oil Late Models, Tom Snyder of Mayport in the Stoystown Auto Wreckers Fastrak Late Models, Jim Boyer of Indiana in the Valentis Excavating Street Stocks,and David Rocker of Revlock and Tom Pavelko of Cherry Tree copped the Texas Auto Ranch Four Cylinder and Modified Texas Auto Ranch Four Cylinder features.
Ron Delano Jr. and Rodney Phillips led the late model feature to the start with
The restart saw Delano continuing to lead with Taneyhill still second and Britsky was now third, but sixth place was Sammy Stile, as he was coming from sixth, which he had fallen to seventh. Delano was still leading and was holding his own, then on lap 16the leaders encountered lapped traffic and Delano got boxed in and Stile when high, while Delano was low and Britsky was also mixing it up, but on the 17th lap, it was Stile out front and Britsky was in second. Stile went on to get the win with Britsky second, Phillips was third,
Heat wins went to Sammy Stile Mike Blose and Bobby Stokes.
In the Fastrak Late Model main it was Ron Smithley beating Daniel Angelicchio off the line. Smithley led the race for the first four laps with Angelicchio in second and Tom Snyder third. On lap five Angelicchio took the lead with Snyder moving into second on lap 11 and then on lap 14 Snyder went to the low side and took the lead off the fourth turn. Once in the lead Snyder never looked back as he took his second win of the season. Angelicchio held of for second with Smithley, Bernie Whiteford and Joey Valenti completed the top five. Hear wins went to Dan Angelicchio, Bernie Whiteford and Rick Strong.
The street stock feature was all Jim Boyer as he and Mike Valazek led the field to the start with Boyer taking the lead and hold off first Valazek the, Mike Laughard and the Bill Henney as the second spot was not decided until the final lap. Boyer took the win with a slight lead over Henney, who held off Laughard, Valazek and Denny Keener. Jim Boyer and Bill Henney won the heat races.
In the pure stock feature Gary Shaffer and Tim Laughard led the field to the start with third place Jeremy Shaffer taking the lead and setting the pace with Laughard in second and Davey Lee in third. The front three were then joined by Matt Summers and Ron Hanna but at the front it was Shaffer who had to relinquish the lead with a flat time, this gave the lead over to Lee, who held off the challenges of Laughard for two laps before Laughard muscled by for the lead and eventual win on the 11th lap, this allowed Hanna to slip by for second and John Mazey came from eighth to third. Derek Stiffler finished fourth and Jeremy Shaffer recovered to finish fifth. Mike Silk and Jeremy Shaffer split heat wins.
The four cylinder sidewinders saw David Rocker and Chris Yoder on the front row with Rocker not only taking the lead at the start, but holding off all challengers the entire distance. First it was Yoder then Ryan Claycomb who challenged for the lead but Rocker held off all the challengers which include a late bid from Joey Petyak who came into the picture late in the race, but at the checkered flag with was Rocker with his second win of the season over Claycomb, Petyak, Yoder and Marc Kepple. Heat race wins went to David Rocker, Joey Petyak and Chris Yoder.
The Modified four cylinder feature was led by Mark Maglet from the start with Tom Pavelko in second and Robert Lydic in third. The front two ran away from Lydic and waged their own battle with Pavelko taking the lead on lap nine and holding off Maglet for the win. Tom Pavelko won the heat.
DOG TRAX: 101 cars filled the pits, including 26 late models, 21 Fastrak late models, 13 street stocks, 14 pure stocks, 25 four cylinder sidewinders and 3 modified four cylinders…lots of action will be on the track this Friday night as the Fastrak Touring Series pulls into the pits for its first special of the season plus it’s the Shawn “Sheetz” McGarvey Top Dog Shoot Out memorial challenge for the late models. McGarvey lost his life in a freak, work related accident just as the season was about to begin. The evening of racing will be sponsors by Coy’s Store and Pizza Shop with race time at sharp.
