NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES POINT LEADER JOHNNY BENSON SET FOR APPEARANCE AT MOTORSPORTS 2009
Atlantic City, NJ October 23, 2008 . . . Current NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point leader Johnny Benson is set to join NASCAR Sprint Cup racer Joey Logano making an appearance at the hugely popular Motorsports 2009 Race Car and Trade Show. The show, filling close to 300,000 square feet of show space at the plush Atlantic City Convention Center, is set to take place Friday and Saturday, January 16-17, 2009.
Benson, a former NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series racer, is looking to win his first Craftsman Truck Series title this season. He finished third in the standings in 2007 and has been a runner-up in the standings.
The popular truck racer has won five truck events during the season.
Benson’s appearance at the 24th edition of the Motorsports Race Car and Trade Show will mark his first visit to the Len Sammons produced event since it moved to Atlantic City. The last time the veteran racer appeared at the Motorsports show was when he was driving the Pennzoil sponsored NASCAR Sprint Cup entry.
Benson will be visiting with fans and signing autographs at a time still to be determined but he will be at the show both days. Logano, driver of the Joe Gibbs Racing Home Depot #20 in 2009, will also be part of the show on both days.
More than 275 race cars are expected to be on display along with a large hardcore manufacturer’s section, collectible and general exhibit areas, free industry seminars, roundtable discussions, stage shows and much more. The show features something for everyone that has an interest in motorsports with more than 400 racing dealers participating in the show.
Again in 2009 autograph sessions featuring nationally famous racing stars and personalities will be available to show attendees FREE.
New in 2009 will be a FREE Exhibitor’s Reception on Thursday, January 15th running from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
In addition the second annual Promoter’s Summit will take place on both days. Registration information was just recently mailed to more than 400 speedways and racing organizations. The Summit will give race promoters, public relations people and others involved in local short track racing the opportunity to hear from a variety of speakers covering a wide range of subjects relating to short track promotion. More than 60 promoters from more than 10 states registered for the Summit earlier this year.
Complete information on the Summit may be had by telephoning Ernie Saxton at 215.752.7797.
Again this year indoor auto racing, another Len Sammons Production, will be taking place on the nights of January 16th and 17th at the Boardwalk Hall located just a few blocks from the Convention Center.
The three events together make for an exciting fan friendly weekend of motorsports entertainment in the popular resort city.
Information on Motorsports 2009 and the Gamblers Classic Indoor Auto Racing events may be had by telephoning 609.888.3618 or check in at www.aarn.com.
“The Saturday night indoor races were very, very close to being a sell out last January and the strong advance sale for this year’s event indicates it could be a sell out,” said Sammons. “Motorsports attendance was up last year as well, especially on Saturday. We plan to expedite the process of ticket sales for the Motorsports Show by opening extra ticket windows during busy hours so that attendees are assured of getting into the event in a timely manner. Fans can also obtain tickets for both events (Motorsports 2009 and the Gamblers Classic Indoor Auto Racing events) in advance by telephoning 609.888.3618. The tickets would make great Christmas gifts.”
There are still good exhibitor locations available for the show which is expected to be a record breaker with everyone looking to see what is new in the sport for 2009 and beyond. Telephone Tim Hogue at 609.888.3618 to reserve your spot.
Many of the exhibitors offer a variety of money saving show specials.
