THE GOOD AND BAD OF THE ECONOMIC PICTURE TO BE DISCUSSED AS PART OF PROMOTER’S SUMMIT
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ November 3, 2008 . . . When the second annual Promoter’s Summit is presented as part of the Motorsports 2009 Race Car & Trade Show at Atlantic City, NJ’s Convention Center, January 16 & 17, much of the attention will be on the current economic situation.
“Many feel that the sluggish economy is actually good for local short track racing,” said Summit organizer Ernie Saxton. “We have heard from many promoters that their season just completed was a good one because of the economy and then there were those who had tough seasons.
“One of the many subjects that will be discussed at the Promoter’s Summit is how promoters can benefit from the sluggish economy by marketing to the local community. Sell the reasons locals should be coming out to enjoy an inexpensive night at the local short track.”
The two day Summit which attracted more than 60 promoters and organization officials last January is expected to attract an even stronger turnout this January.
One of the most popular presentations was offered by Area Auto Racing News columnist Guy Smith who has attended events at more than 1100 facilities. He will again share his ideas for improvement of the sport with the attendees based on his years of being a fan of the sport and talking with other fans.
The Summit will include a “roundtable discussion” with all attendees participating in this idea sharing and problem solving session.
Sponsorship will be another important subject covered as speedways and organizations look for new revenue sources.
Other subjects being considered for the Summit include:
* Concession tips
* Website pointers (keeping it current is important)
* Working with ALL the media
* Working with the racers
* Promotion ideas that work
* What is working in sportswear and souvenirs?
* Program books can be profitable
And the list goes on.
“We welcome suggestions from promoters and organization officials as to what they would like to see discussed at the Summit,” said Saxton. “We want to be sure that we are covering the subjects that those attending are interested in. We want to send everyone home from the Summit with renewed enthusiasm for short track racing.”
Registrations are now being accepted for the two day Promoter’s Summit. In fact Todd Fisher of Susquehanna Speedway Park was first to submit his registration for the 2009 Summit. Each track or organization can have two representatives attend for just $100. That $100 can be used as an advertising credit in a future edition of Area Auto Racing News. The two representatives covered by the $100 will also receive free admission to Motorsports 2009 and the Friday night indoor auto racing events.
Each additional representative will be required to pay a $50 registration fee and that will include free admission to the show.

The Promoter’s Summit will be part of the Motorsports 2009 Race Car & Trade Show taking place at the Atlantic City, NJ Convention Center, January 16 and 17th, 2009.
