Mohawk International Raceway Forced to Cancel This Weekend's Atomic Spring Clash due to Wet Conditions

Wet conditions, cold temperatures and forecasts for ongoing precipitation have forced race organizers to cancel the Atomic Spring Clash at Mohawk International Raceway (MIR) in Hogansburg, NY, which was set to roll this weekend, Saturday, April 25th and Sunday, April 26th.

Due to the traditional racing season starting at tracks all over the northeast, there are no available slots to make up this event, so it has been shelved for the 2015 season.

While conditions looked promising until very recently, recent precipitation and cold temperatures have made it impossible for track crews to properly prepare the track and parking areas for the large number of vehicles and fans that were expected to attend this weekend.

Race organizer Shayne Tenace and MIR track owners Don Thompson Jr. and John Lazore would like to thank all of the racers, teams and fans that expressed interest in participating this weekend.

While this cancellation is disappointing, all of the involved racing groups would like to remind fans that North Country racing action will be firing up very shortly.

Mohawk International Raceway will have a test and tune session on Saturday, May 9th, with the season opening race set for Friday, May 15th, as CKON Radio presents the Frenchie's FORD Sportsman series (round one), along with a full show of racing for the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds, Modified Lites and Bandits, along with a 15-lap Slicktrack Ironman Enduro Qualifier.

Mohawk International Raceway will host racing every Friday night through the summer months featuring the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds, DIRTcar Sportsman-Modifieds, Modified Lites and Bandits.

Numerous specials dot the 2015 schedule, including the Empire Super Sprints on Friday, June 5th. Thursday, July 9th will see the return of the DIRTcar SuperDIRT Big Block series. A major doubleheader weekend is on the card Friday, September 18th with the DIRTcar 358 Series 75 lap event and on Saturday, September 19th, the DIRTcar Sportsman tour will be featured in the Pete Mitchell Memorial event. The Go Nuclear Late Model series will be in action on both Friday, September 18th and Saturday, September 19th.
