SpeedSTR, Slingshot National Titles On Line At Grandview's Fall
Jamboree This Weekend
Myerstown, PA - Speedway Entertainment's Fourth Annual Fall Jamboree, set for October 31st and November 1st at the Grandview Speedway, will provide Halloween treats for a few select wheel-twisters, while supplying a bag full of disappointment for others. The Fall Jamboree is presented by the all new Savage 61 Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep auto dealership. The event, while taking place for the second consecutive year at Grandview, is promoted and staffed by the JeffreyHogueRealtor.com Action Track USA group that is headed up by Rich Tobias and Doug Rose.
At the conclusion of the huge weekend of racing action, three drivers will be crowned as 2015 National Champions as the title chase in the USAC All Pro SpeedSTR, the All Star Slingshot, and the Junior Slingshot divisions comes to a dramatic close on the high banked oval in Bechtelsville, PA. And all three of those championships are still very much in doubt with Pierre Hebert (SpeedSTR) holding on to a tenuous lead in the National SpeedSTR standings, Brett Bieber and Dylan Hoch neck-and-neck for the All Star Slingshot title, and Justin Mills hanging on to the top spot in the Junior Slingshot class.
Adding to the drama is the fact that complete programs will be run for all divisions on both Saturday and Sunday, with every feature awarding National points and Sunday's main events have double-points up for grabs.
They won't be
crowning a National Champion like the Speedway Entertainment classes, but the
ever popular and always highly competitive Wingless 600cc Sprints
will also be a big part of the Fall Jamboree, competing in heats, B-Mains,
and feature races on both days.
Pit gates will
open at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with grandstand gates swinging open at
11 a.m. Warm-ups get underway at noon and qualifying activity will follow
immediately after the hot lap sessions are finished.
admission tickets are priced at $12 for each day.
Billy Pauch Sr. captured the National All Pro SpeedSTR championship by winning
the Fall Jamboree. The victory enabled Pauch, from Frenchtown, NJ, to erase a
considerable deficit in the point standings and narrowly edge out Maxime Plante
for the title.
Pauch has to climb out of a big hole once again this year, as he sits sixth in the National tally heading to Grandview. Like last year, Pauch comes into the Fall Jamboree with some momentum after winning the All Pro Series race at Five Mile Point on October 10. He's currently 237 points behind Hebert, but with two races still to go - and especially since Sunday offers double points - it's not an impossible task for Pauch and his Mike Heffner owned, Lelands.com No. 27.
Both Pierre and
Kevin Hebert have indicated their intention to attend the Fall Jamboree as
Pierre attempts to stave off Pauch's challenge and win his first National
PA's Tim Buckwalter resides ninth in the current National All Pro standings,
with Matt Janisch, Nazareth, in tenth. Both drivers head to Grandview with an
outside shot at the title.
Outlaws Late Model standout Rick Eckert, of York, PA, is expected to take part
in Sunday's portion of the two day racing extravaganza. Eckert is no stranger
to the SpeedSTR series, winning several features in 2013 and '14 at Action
Track USA. He's also been a previous Fall Jamboree victor when the event was
held at Path Valley Speedway.
from Mertztown, won his first All Star Slingshot National title by winning last
season's Fall Jamboree. To capture the race and the championship, he had to
hold off three-time National Champ Brett Bieber...the same driver he's racing
for this year's crown. Former National champion Cody Kline, Oley's Louden
Reimert, and Dillon Steuer, who triumphed on the asphalt of Mahoning Valley
Speedway on October 24, all have a legitimate shot at the title as well.
trails Justin Mills by 104 points in the Junior Slingshot standings, but two
races - one of them being double points - could very well shake up the
championship chase at Grandview this weekend. The entire top ten in Junior
National points is tight, so there will be some intense competition on Saturday
and Sunday as the Junior Slingers vie for the final "Great Eight"
positions in the points.
In 2014, a
large field of Wingless 600cc Sprints competed in the Fall Jamboree, with James
Morris emerging victorious. Morris is expected back to try for two in a row,
but a vast array of the area's top 600cc throttle-jockeys will be out to
dethrone Morris and head into the winter months with a final victory (or two)
on their resume`.
