August 4, BETHEL, NY - In less than two weeks in upstate New York, people will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the original Woodstock Music Festival. Just a few short miles down the road, Bethel Motor Speedway will be hosting its own celebration of sorts, highlighted by LegendStock2009 on Saturday, August 15th and the newly-announced SportsmanStock 2009 on Sunday, August 16th.

SportsmanStock 2009 is expected to draw in Dirt Sportsman talent from across the area, all competing on the asphalt for a chance to bring home a $1,000 payday. The Sportsman class was added to Bethel's regular weekly schedule for the 2009 season, and has brought in many dirt drivers looking to test their talents on the pavement at the 1/4-mile oval. The class has developed a large following at the speedway, and has been featured in such media outlets as Area Auto Racing News and

Dirt Sportsman racing is widely popular in the upstate area, and the cars are plentiful. In addition to having an array of dirt tracks to compete at, Bethel is now giving these drivers the chance to try their hand at racing on asphalt as well. While some of the drivers who have competed at Bethel this season have disclosed that they do make some changes to their cars in order to make the transition to the pavement, others have hit the track without making any changes at all and have ended up in Victory Lane at the end of the night.

SportsmanStock 2009 will headline the August 16th show at Bethel, which will also include the Street Stock class and INEX-sanctioned Legends and Bandoleros. The Legends will headline the program on August 15th with the LegendStock 2009 race. The Bandolero, Pro Stock, and 4 Cylinder classes will also compete on Saturday.

Grandstand admission at Bethel Motor Speedway is just $5. The track's full schedule is available online at
