First meeting of Flemington Speedway Racing Historical Society is successful, next meeting to organize officially

Easton PA, November 17, 2009   –   The inaugural “open forum” meeting to create the “Flemington Speedway Racing Historical Society”, was held on October 27, 2009 with twenty-six former competitors, officials, and fans attended this historic event.  The enthusiasm of the group has lead to organizer Bill Hanna to schedule another meeting to formally start the process to create the society officially.  This meeting will be taking place on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 7:00 PM.  The meeting will again take place at the Glen Gardner VFW, 179 Main Street, Glen Gardner, NJ.

The mission statement of this organization will be to “Preserve, Protect and Document the history of the Flemington Speedway and Fairgrounds”.   This meeting will be to start the process of forming the society officially.  Nominations for the initial officers and board of directors will take place, as well as a preview of the society’s official-by-laws.   

Interest has been growing since the first meeting, and many people have indicated their attendance for the December meeting.  Noted program publisher Steve Barrick of Program Dynamics, Flemington Speedway artist Dave Garboski, former racing columnist Fred Voorhees and CARQUEST Gasoline hosts Ed & Steve Pados have indicated that they plan to attend.
