FLEMINGTON SPEEDWAY HISTORICAL SOCIETY'S ANNUAL "TAS" AWARDS AND MOVIE NITE SET FOR JAN. 17

FLEMINGTON, NJ:  "The Tas Awards" to Honor Flemington Speedway’s Most Influential Persons will be held Saturday night, January 17, 2015 at the Flemington Elks Lodge #1928.  All are invited when Ken Brenn Jr., Jim Horton Sr., Glenn Fitzcharles, and Jackie McLaughlin will be deservingly recognized by Flemington Speedway Historical Society (FSHS).

Those racers will join Flemington Speedway’s Most Influential Persons Award inaugural recipient Al Tasnady (“Tas”), for whom the award was renamed to honor. The 2013 recipients were Paul Kuhl and Billy Pauch. In 2014, Stan Ploski, Ken Brenn Sr., Ace Lane Sr., Bill Singer, and Sammy Beavers were honored.

Doors open at 5:30 pm at the Flemington Elks, located at 165 Route 31, Flemington, NJ.  The Tas Awards and Nostalgic Movie Nite will feature recently recovered Dick Ivins Racing Movies from the 1960’s and 1970’s, a highlight reel from guest speakers at FSHS meetings, and excerpts from Dale Snyder DVD’s. The entertainment goes from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Food and drink will be available for purchase.  

Tickets for the Tas Awards are $20.00, however, will-call tickets can be purchased in advance for $15.00 each by sending a check to “FSHS, PO Box 1003, Flemington, NJ 08822." Pick them up when you arrive by giving your name at the ticket table. Include an email address if you want order confirmation. Be sure to get your tickets now, because municipal fire code limits attendance to 393. 

 

FSHS is a public charity recognized as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The mission of FSHS remains to preserve, protect, and document the history of the Flemington Fairgrounds and Speedway.  The Society meets at 7:00 PM the third Tuesday of each month at the Flemington Elks Lodge 1928.  All are welcome.
