One of the most glorious times in the history of stock car racing in New Jersey took place during the decade of the seventies when Flemington and East Windsor speedways teamed up together to form a three night a week racing circuit. In addition, at season end they would crown a justified New Jersey State Championship driver
Those days are sadly long gone, but worse yet these two ever memorable racing facilities no longer exist. All that remains now are the memories of what once was.
There will surely be many of those brought back from Wednesday, August 19th through Sunday, Agust 23rd as part of this year's Hunterdon County 4-H & Agricultural Fair. A big part of that annual fair will be the Flemington Fair Race Car Show, Memorabilia & Vintage Race Car Display.
This show's organizers, Wyatt Jacobus and Clint Bush, already have been beseiged by legendary race drivers and vintage race car owners inquiring about being a part of this five day program on the heels of last year's first time show that was met with awesome fan support.
Jacobus and Bush have opened the doors this time around to not only competitors from the past at Flemington Fair Speedway but plan to present many vivid racing memories from the past that once took place at the famed East Windsor Speedway in Hightstown, NJ along with former race tracks such as Old Bridge Nazareth, Reading, Hatfield and Morristown.
This show will mark the first time that the many great racers that were in action at the East Windsor track will be featured since it closed back in 2002.
The headline day for the former race drivers will be Sunday, August 23rd from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. There will be a meet and greet autograph session, countless interviews taking place on the main stage of the fair, a complimentary luncheon for both drivers and race car displayers presented by Nicola's Pizza and J&A Catering on Saturday and Sunday and many prize giveaways to the fans plus much more.
