STRONG INDUSTRY SUPPORT FOR EMPA CONVENTION
IndyCar guru Robin Miller to be keynote speaker
TRENTON, NJ (December 3).…..The Eastern Motorsport Press Association (EMPA) annual Convention is set for January 6-8, 2012 at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Among the highlights of the three-day gathering of professional motorsports journalists will be the keynote address by noted IndyCar writer and television personality Robin Miller and the Saturday evening EMPA Hall of Fame inductions and driver of the year awards during the NASCAR/EMPA Hall of Fame Awards Dinner.
Other activities include presentations by representatives of sanctioning bodies, auto racing facilities, and individual competitors as well as seminars and panel discussions.
“It’s a full weekend with the emphasis on racing,” said Ron Hedger, EMPA president. “We’re especially grateful for the strong and continued support from the motorsports industry. Their participation proves EMPA is a working organization for print and electronic journalists who are committed to and focus on all aspects of auto racing.”;
Major support for the EMPA Convention comes from NASCAR, IndyCar, Dover International Speedway, television network SPEED, and World Racing Group (World of Outlaws/DIRTcar). Support for the in-house EMPA Writers, Photographers, and Broadcasters/Videographers Contests comes from Pocono Raceway, Brice/NAPA Auto Parts, and American Honda Motor Company.
New England Race Fuels sponsors the John Blewett III Young Guns Award, while a portion of World Racing Group’s support is for the Jerry Reigle Outstanding Contribution to Sprint Car Racing Award.
“Each year, EMPA invites every speedway, road course, drag strip, and sanctioning body in the Northeast to participate in the Convention,” said Hedger. “We always have an outstanding lineup of folks making presentations to our members and that includes some of the biggest stars in the sport like drag racing’s Antron Brown and NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart who’ve participated in past conventions.”;
The EMPA is a registered non-profit association open to professional journalists, print and electronic, with a major focus on all aspects of auto racing. For further information and a membership application, visit the EMPA website www.empaonline.org.
