Bill Hill Obituary and Services

William Jess Hill, 61, of Barnsboro, went to be with the Lord on December 24, 2012. Bill was born on August 24, 1951 in Woodbury, NJ to William Joseph Hill and Grace DíAmico Hill. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972.  He was a member and past commander of the Lawson-Cox VFW Post 7679 in Mantua.   For three decades he was a Local 19 Union sheet metal worker.

Billís greatest passions were his family and racing. A second-generation dirt-track racecar driver, Bill started his racing career at the age of three driving quarter-midgets with his dad. In 1973, he began to race stock cars at Bridgeport Speedway, where he would spend his summer Saturday nights for the next 40 years.  Ten years ago he founded Hill Motorsports so that he could help support and foster his sonsí love of racing.  Nothing brought more joy to Bill than seeing his sons successfully carry on the Hill racing legacy. Bill never met a person that he didnít know. He had a sharp wit and a biting tongue, but he had a huge and loving heart. He was a fighter who never backed down from a battle.

He is survived by his mother, Grace DíAmico Hill; children: Alison Strother, Jesse Hill (spouse-to-be Brittany Lehman) and Travis Hill; grandchildren: Pierce Strother, Tyler Gruber and Thomas Blossom; fiancťe Jane Blossom and her children: Rick Blossom and Kate Blossom.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 29 at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua Township at 3pm. The family will be accepting visitors from 1pm to 3pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one of the following charities: Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org), Fox Chase Cancer Center (www.fccc.edu/) or the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
