ARRA Adds Three New Historians – Continues to Add Files and Features to their Website

Ringoes,NJ – Auto Racing Research Associates is proud to announce that they have recently welcomed three new and distinguished additions to their group of hard working historians in a continual effort to strengthen their efforts in documenting auto racing history.

Nationally known sprint car racing maven Kevin Eckert, famous for his country-wide travels to report on sprint car racing at the most famous ovals joins us.  Kevin has had his journalistic talents in the pages of Gater Racing News, Speedway Scene, Trackside Magazine and Flat Out, which he edited at one point.  Kevin has covered racing at 535 different racing facilities and in 47 states, as well as Australia.

Bob Mays joins ARRA with a varied list of racing credentials.  Early in his stint in racing, Bob found himself behind the camera, taking pictures for many efforts including Hawkeye Racing News, Western Racing News, National Speed Sport News and also Open Wheel Magazine.  A deft writer, Bob wrote and/or contributed to various books on the sport, beginning with his 2002 release of “High Plains Drifter – Super Modified Racing in the Midlands”.  Bob was elected to Board of Directors of the Nebraska Auto Racing Hall of Fame (1998).  The occasional midget, mini-sprint and sprint car driver has also garnered various including Reporter of the Year by the National Modified Midget Association(1990) Belleville,Kansas Highbanks Hall of Fame(2006) and the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame (2018).

Stephen Bubb comes to ARRA and may be a familiar name to subscribers of Area Auto Racing News.  Mr. Bubb has penned a column for the highly respected weekly racing newspaper for many years.  However, many might not know that Stephen also is one of the handful of faithful members of the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing.

All of us at ARRA look forward to working with these newest of members and look forward to their efforts going forward.

Not to be shadowed by the addition of these fine historians…ARRA continues to work towards documenting the sport.  Recently additions to the groups website include a new page that will serve as a “weigh station” for information that has been acquired and documented, but just doesn’t add up to enough to include on its own page.  The information resides on this page…waiting for further work, but will still be documented and secure on the web for future reference.  The new page goes by the title “Treasure Chest”.  We hope you will check it out.  Member Bill Skinner has been hard at work.  Our specialist in the older days of racing, Bill has recently submitted detailed “data snapshot” of the Alcyon Speedway from 1953 – 1959 and is close to wrapping up research on the well known Joseph Pustizzi “Case Farms” #300 which was piloted by a number of famous drivers including Otto Harwi…Ken Marriotte and Jackie McLaughlin.

Information has been added to the Harold Bunting file and files close to being added to the website in the near future include research projects on Kevin Collins (Buskirk), Canadian Pat O’Brien, Bob McCreadie, New York modified star Bobby Varin, all time top ten finishers at the Reading Speedway and every A main feature event winner on the World of Outlaws tour.

We welcome all race fans to visit our site and marvel at the amount of racing statistics amassed over the short time that ARRA has been in operation.  We welcome you to visit our site at: https://sites.google.com/site/arradocumentingracinghistory/home and also our sister website of Race Stat Central, run by our Associate Members Dennis Clapperton and Dennis Zimmerman at: https://nemodfacts.racestatcentral.com/
