NIGHT ONE OF THE 2018 SKYSCRAPER IS ON THE BOOKS

The first night of the 2018 Skyscraper competition saw six drivers added to the Sunday's main events.

Tommy Kunsman picked up the win in the twenty lap Champion Oil U6SA feature event for the 600 Micro Sprints after a heated battle with Damon Paul and Brian Carber.  Kunsman and Carber battled side by side and wheel to wheel before Paul moved up to second in the final laps to challenge Kunsman as they ran to the checkered.  "It was great racing," Kunsman related, "We never even touched wheels!"

The win gives Kunsman a seventh place start in Sunday's $4,000 to win event.

Matt Smith set fast time in the first session of timed hot laps for the 600s, giving the 2017 Track Champion a starting spot in the top six on Sunday with his time of 13.161.  Gary Bozowski's fast time of 13.286 in the second session will allow the young driver to draw for a position from 8th to 15th.

Mike Rutherford chased down race leader Ken Andreas to take the Winner's Classic for the 270 Micro Sprints.  The win puts Rutherford in the seventh starting spot for Sunday's $3,000 to win main event for the 270s.

Pat Bealer wheeled his way to a second place finish with Andreas finishing third.

Tommy Kunsman's fast time in the first group of timed hot laps of 12.539 gives him a starting spot in the top six on Sunday while Jacob Hendershot's fast time 12.641 in the second round will give Skias a starting spot between 8th and 15th.
