MELVIN L. JOSEPH MEMORIAL WILL OPEN 2016 AT GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY, MARCH 12

The 2016 Season Opener at Georgetown Speedway, the track’s “Grand Reopening” under the new BD Motorsports Media LLC regime on Saturday, March 12, will very appropriately honor the man who built the historic First State speedway in 1949: Melvin L. Joseph. The Joseph family has given approval for this great event to celebrate the storied history of racing at Georgetown.

The Modifieds, big-blocks vs. small-blocks, will headline the Season Opening Card in a 49-lap event offering $4,900 to the winner plus bonuses. A full lineup of divisions will be announced in the coming weeks, but Crate 602 Sportsman will be among the classes in the lineup for this event.

A Friday night practice session on March 11 will open the weekend.

A new Georgetown Speedway website is in the works and will be unveiled by mid-November.
