Bridgeport Speedway Announces 602 Crate-Sportsman Sealing Program For 2018

The earlier announcement that Bridgeport will be moving to all 602 crate engines in 2018 has drawn much interest from current, former, and future competitors. Along the way, many questions have arisen regarding the new rule changes.

‘We’ve done a lot of research, exploring, and analyzing the 602 engines since we made our announcement,” offered track owner Brian Ramey. “Our goal is simple at Bridgeport – Have a level playing field for everyone involved and install integrity to the new 602 Crate-Sportsman division.”
‘Crate-Lock’ will be the name of the new sealing program at Bridgeport. It will be implemented through ‘KillerCrate Racing Engines’. KillerCrate will be the official sealed engine supplier for new secondary-sealed 602 crate engines. Customers can place orders for new secondary-sealed 602 crate engines from KillerCrate by calling Bob Godgart at 518-469-2932 or Bobby Hackel at 518-772-7027. There remains a $250 rebate for any engines purchased by 12/31/17.
Existing engines will be dyno verified and sealed at either of the two Bridgeport Speedway contracted service centers at a cost of $425. Bitner Automotive in Trenton, NJ (609) 888-1199), additional partners to be released soon. Bridgeport’s own carburetor and headers will be utilized for the dyno test.
Hardship requests will be accepted upon submission by track tech to allow mechanical seals in place of the ‘Crate-Lock’ seals. These engines will be under scrutiny and subject to protest for exemplary performance which will result in dyno testing. Drivers are allowed 2 races with non-Bridgeport seals before having to undergo Crate-Lock.
A meeting will be held at the upcoming Motorsports Expo on January 20, 2018 in seminar Room #1 at 2:30 pm. Pace Performance, KillerCrate, Bridgeport tech, and Bridgeport’s service centers will be present for comments and questions. All 602 Crate- Sportsman drivers who intend on competing at Bridgeport whether it’s full-time or part- time are encouraged to attend and participate in this Motorsports meeting.
