ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS Accord, NY - Great Racing And Family Fun Will Greet Racing Fans This Saturday For Accord Speedway's Halloween Bowl By Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media After being rained out for the Full Fendered Finale event on October 3rd, , Accord Speedway Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer have changed up the concept of the event and are completing chores as they ready the speedway for the newly named Halloween Bowl coming up this coming Saturday afternoon, October 31st. The event will mark the regular season curtain closer for the successful promotional team now in their fifteenth season of owning and promoting their pristine Ulster County racing facility. Five divisions of racing will do battle in what will be another great day of racing excitement at the speedway and the Palmer Family has added many neat and entertaining things for the Families to do during the day. The event will be sponsored by longtime speedway sponsor the John J Liggan Insurance Agency. Family fun actvities for the day include hayrides courtesy of the Roosa Family. Their will be a kid's costume parade that may find additional treats being handed out by drivers and fans. A bicycle raffle is on tap also, courtesy of Upstate Auto. Kids (11 and under) will be admitted free if in costume. Pumpkin decorating has just been added to the event courtesy of the good folks at Saunderskill Farms. Music will be provided by DJ Tim Adams. A bonus will be offered to the best Halloween themed Enduro car. The Saturday event will see five divisions duking it out on the Accord Speedway quarter mile playground. The Escape RV Sportsman/Healey Brothers Group Spec Sportsman divisions will join together and headline the racing activity as they race for a winning prize of $2,000.00, thanks to the recent addition of $500.00 being added to the purse from generous sponsor Marty and his Upstate Auto located in Germantown, New York. www.upstateautoinc.com Expected to be on hand for the event will be the newly newly crowned champions from the division, "Mr Excitement" Kevin Ward/Sportsman and Robbie Knipe/Spec Sportsman. Knipe is coming off a big win a few weeks ago in the King of the Catskills spectacular and Ward was a recent victor at another speedway and both would like nothing better than to add another big payday and win to their racing resumes. The strong supporting cast of Rich Ricci III, Ed Dachenhausen, Dan Speedling, Ken Boniface, Allison Ricci, Kyle Rohner, Dave Werber, Jimmy Wells, Greg McCloskey, Randy Green, Brandon McGill, Jesse Marks, Ryan Stortini, Phil and Nick Johnson, Mike Barrett, Joey Bruning, Jeff Hulseapple, Phil Goetchius, Joey Bonetti, Ralph Ronk, Danny Cross, Patrick Murphy, Kenny Hinsch and many more will add to the luster of the event. Also anticipated is the influx of some outside invaders coming in to do battle at the "Gem in the Catskills." The Arkel Motors Pure Stocks will rock the house for a $1.000.00 to win payday, their biggest event of the season. The Arkel roster is loaded with a great cross section of rookie and veteran stars including the newly crowned 2015 track champion, Chris Streeter, based out of Mill River, Massachusetts. Streeter waited until the final Friday night event to capture his first Accord win and is looking foward to go after his second win in a row. The Pure Stock ranks include Gary Ronk, Ray Tarantino, John Woinoski, Bob Palmer, Bob Sleight, Joel Murns, Tanner Johnson, Paul Aragon, Steve Williams, Steve Kanuk, Livy Johnson, John Cole, Harry Bachman and a host of others expected in for the big payday. The Ruge's Performance Pro Stocks are headed up by newly crowned champion, "Double D" Dave Demorest. Demorest recorded seven wins on his way to the 2015 crown and would be a solid favorite coming into the event. Five time feature winner in 2015 and former champion Al Christiana will bring his trusty racer to the event along with another former champion John Roese, who missed at least four weeks of the season while recovering from an off track incident. Roese is the only racer at the speedway still utilizing Ford power under the hood of his race car. A host of players including Jimmy Sykes, Greg Sleight, Wayne Taylor, Chrissy Rider, John Rood, Larry O'Donnell, Bill Knapp, Jimmy Grippen and Ron and Bill Rion add to the depth of the division. The Four Cylinder Enduro marquis feature event will pay out a $2,000.00 grand prize for their 100 lap encounter. The big change for this event will be no full race cars will be permitted to compete against the stock entries. The allure of the rock'em-sock-em action this weekend will be exciting to witness as the operative word "endurance" comes into play heavily as the drivers will not only have to be quick but will have to learn how negotiate through stalled cars to keep pace with the leaders as they vie for the big prize that awaits them in the Lucas Oil products Victory Lane. George Zeininger is the man to beat as he has captured both events this season at the speedway. The POWRi Outlaw Midgets are also scheduled to place their prints on the moist and tacky Accord racing surface for the first time. The Northeast division differs from the National series in that the race cars are utilizing a variety of more economical powerplants to assist in keeping the cost of racing down while still providing the thrill of great open wheel competition. The newly formed Northeast Wingless Sprints will also be on hand for an exhibition run to allow the fans to view the new exciting division that is now competing at the Speedway. For more information regarding this new and affordable racing division, contact Gary Palmer at: 845 626 1142 or through email at: accordspeedway@yahoo.com The Accord Speedway racing season was another great one even though the economic woes of our country continue to play a major role in limiting how many times the loyal fan base can come out and enjoy the great racing found at Accord. Even so, the racing action remains extraordinary as the competition in all divisions goes the extra mile to put on a great show for the Accord fan base. Promoter Gary Palmer continues to work his magic on the racy quarter mile speedplant and the side by side, three and four wide racing action is a tribute to the time and effort Palmer puts into the facility that attracts a fan and driver base from as many as six states on a weekly basis. The five divisions divisions of racing on this weekend are a bargain for the racing fans as each competing division has it's own stars and fanfare and will create a rocking great time in the foothills of Ulster County. The Halloween Bowl weekend is scheduled for this Saturday, October 31st. Pit Gates will open at 11 AM; Spectator Gates will open at Noon; Hot Laps are at 1:00 and the racing begins shortly thereafter. Admission at the gate for the spectacular show: Adults $14.00; Seniors $12.00; Children $3.00. Indoor Seating is $20.00 and The Family Four pack is $44.00.
