Accord, NY- : "The Travelin Man" Mick D'Agostino Is Prepped For New Challenges At Accord Speedway
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
Coming off of the best season of his exciting racing career, Taunton, Massachusetts driving star Mick D'Agostino accomplished one of the goals he set forth for himself when he first entered the racing establishment. Dubbed "The Travelin' Man" by Hamlin Speedway announcer Steve Pados, D'Agostino covered the bases at Hamlin by earning his first track championship during the running of the 2017 racing season.
D'Agostino finished tenth in the final standings in 2016 and put his best foot forward in 2017 as he captured two wins at the very exciting Hamlin facility but it was his overall consistency and attention to detail that ultimately had him reigning in his first ever track title with a 54 point margin over former champion Colin White. D'Agostino finished every race during the season and enjoyed 13 top five and 16 top ten finishes with perfect attendance despite the fact the family race team traveled six hours each way to accomplish their goal.
With the Hamlin track title in his pocket, new goals are on the horizon for D'Agostino for the upcoming 2018 racing season. While still remaining in competition at Hamlin for the new season ahead, D'Agostino will enter the NEWS Sprint Car ranks at the Gary and Donna Palmer owned Accord Speedway located in the Catskill Mountains of New York State. The upstart division at Accord has shown great strides since the Palmer Family initiated the series and the division is proud of the fact they have been developing new talent with each passing season. D'Agostino hopes to be one of those new stars.
Having competed with good success at Hamlin since 2010 in Wingless 600 Sprints, D'Agostino should be a quick study to his new racing endeavors. At the team shop the team is preparing a brand new J&J Chassied Sprint Car for Accord and other Wingless racing events in the Tri State area. The team will fit the new GMC Crate motor between the rails and be ready when the first scheduled practice sessions get underway at Accord. While it is a big step up in competition, this young man certainly knows the short way around the speedways he has competed at, most recently taking in the indoor racing event held in Trenton, New Jersey.
D'Agostino has a pair of Hyper 600 Sprints for competing at Hamlin and other facilities. Spar power is the horsepower of choice and all cars will carry sponsorship from Tech Mechanical Systems, FE Biedak Law and US Sheet Metal. The team is also seeking additional Sponsorship help with the aggressive schedule they have in place in 2018.
D'Agostino graduated from Sussex University in Boston, Massachusetts after spending his first two years at West Virginia University. Besides his enjoyment of the competition he finds while racing, he also enjoys football, lacrosse and his pet dogs. The 22 year old young man has been landscaping in his off time besides preparing the new race car for battle.
"The Travelin' Man" Mick D'Agostino has set the bar high for his racing endeavors. He has shown he has what it takes to continue his transition to the top in racing and he is doing it the right way, one step at a time and pointing to the future.
Depending on the weather, it is hoped a couple of practice sessions will open the Accord Speedway for 2018.
Racing will be on tap every Friday night at Accord Speedway from April through September. Please make note that when the season begins the Pit Gates open at 5:00; Spectator Gates open at 5:30; Hot Laps begin at 7:00 and the racing begins at 7:30 PM.
