Brewerton Speedway Set To Showcase Empire Super Sprints And Big Block Modifieds This Friday, September 4
By Dave Medler – BREWERTON, NY – September 2, 2015 - Start your Labor Day weekend at the Brewerton Speedway this Friday, September 4 when NAPA and A-Verdi Storage Containers will present Championship Night when track champions will be crowned and big horsepower will take center stage.
Taking center stage will be the ‘Wings & Warriors’ final race of 2015 when the methanol breathing, winged beasts of the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints and the 800 horsepower, ground pounding warriors of the Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds will be ripping up the clay on the ‘D-Shaped Dirt Demon’.
Larry Wight will be looking to defend home turf when he straps into his Gypsum Express/Big Red Towing/ No.99L Sprint Car against the stars and cars of the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints. Led by local favorites Jason Barney, Tommy Wickham, Shawn Donath plus ESS stars Steve Poirier, Matt Tanner, Chuck Hebing, Paul Kinney and others will make for a great show.
The Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds are widely known for one of the toughest weekly fields anywhere in the Northeast. Half of the top-ten in Modified Super DIRTcar Series call the Brewerton Speedway their Friday night home. Those drivers include Matt Sheppard, Jimmy Phelps, Billy Decker, Larry Wight and Pat Ward. Throw in track regulars Ryan Phelps, Matt Hulsizer, Tim Sears Jr., Chad Phelps, Chuck Bower, Rob Bellinger, Chris Hile, Vic Coffey and others, it’s easy to see why victories are so hard to come by.
The racing doesn’t stop there as there are point battles that are coming down to this Friday in two other divisions.
Forty-six different drivers have competed in the SUNY Canton Sportsman this season, and it all comes down to this Friday to decide the Track Champion. Ron Davis III leads Jack Meeks by a single point and Tony Finch II by 25 markers.
The point’s championship is tight in the Pro Race Cars Mod Lites and has come down to Joe Isabell who holds a slim four-point lead over Jim Bogett.
Adult grandstand admission Friday, September 4 will be $20 with everyone 18 yrs. old and younger FREE. Pit admission will be $35. Gates will open at 5:30 with racing at 7:30.
When the point’s season ends this Friday, the racing is far from over. Circle the following dates on your calendar as ‘Must See’ events.
