April 24th, at LindaS Speedway, 36 modified signed in for action and if Friday nights  racing action is any preview of the 2015 tour division season,” Let's get ready to roll”. The Jonestown PA bullring had the drivers and crews on their feet and on the cars all night long.

Richie Hitzler, Lebanon native, pretty much has figured out what he needs by feature time. The 2014 Linda Speedway champion may not have had the best time of the night but had the car to get it done. Ryan Higgs, driving the Horning sponsored #88, is always a threat when the car hits the track. Billy Koch, who is running for rookie of the year, just looked to make the feature and keep the car in one piece. After qualifying and starting the feature mid pack, Koch had the same goal in mind. In only his second race and his first time at Lindas proved to be a combination worth talking about all week.  Many of the veterans had taken notice and kept an eye on the young gun.

At the drop of the green, you knew it was going to be a race to remember. Hitzler waited patiently till the halfway mark then it was go time.  Ryan Higgs worked his way to the front early and placed himself in the top 3. Koch had managed a top four spot by mid race. The veterans used their experience  to keep the field at bay and Koch used that experience to bring home a third place finish.

Hitzler would not be outdone as he would bring home his first win of the 2015 season. After going winless at Lindas, and still bringing home a championship was hard for the passionate racer. After victory lane, Hitzler explained feeling over the winter months. “As a racer of course you want to win but sometimes you have to look at the big picture. Going winless last year was tough even though I was the champion. Starting off this year, with the first tour race win at Lindas, makes winning both championship that much more.” The Xcel Chassis modified tour will return to Thunder Mountain Speedway May 2nd and 3rd for a Saturday night show of shows. Most of the teams will stay overnight and take part in the first Small Car Sunday. Information can be found on Thunder Mountain’s website.
