XCEL CHASSIS SIGNS THUNDER MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY WITH 3 YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION

TWO CHAMPIONS TO BE CROWNED THIS WEEKEND OCT 9TH & 10TH AT I-88 SPEEDWAY

The New York Southern Tier racing community is on fire after a joint announcement made by Xcel Chassis 600 modified kingpin Doug Borger and Thunder Mountain Speedway owner Karl Spoonhower.

Karl has extended his yearly contract to a three-year obligation.Borger explained how both parties came to a fast and firm agreement.”There is no doubt this is a win-win situation for both parties involved. Once the word was leaked I had orders for new cars. Some teams have already upgraded their motor program. My plans are to have a tech director specifically for the 600 modifieds. This way it will not interfere with Thunder’s weekly schedule time and keep the modifieds stock. This series was built on the premise of being affordable and Karl is a firm believer in our program. The parts department will also be upgraded and expanded.”

Karl spoke of his decision and the benefits.”This series has grown during some of the worst years in racing. The affordability of the car and maintenance will have teams racing  each week without breaking a budget.  I see the class growing and Thunder Mountain is going to be a part of it.” The Xcel Chassis 600 Modifieds will be at the Parts Peddler Show in November.

This weekend, I-88 Speedway will host Brett Deyo’s Short-Track Super Series. Two champions of the Xcel Chassis 600 Modifieds will be crowned after Saturday night's events.

The Xcel Chassis/Brett Deyo mini-series  heads into the weekend with Brian Carber the points leader. Carber will need to take the green flag Friday to clinch the title. 4 drivers will fight for second. Josh Pepe, Aaron Bowes, Will Eastman and Shawna Schibilia are within 43 points of 2nd place Richie Hitzler.

Billy Koch has clinched the Xcel Chassis 600 tour modified Rookie of the Year honors despite having mid season gremlins. DJ Hunt consistently improved but would run out of time to catch Koch. Both young guns will have an impact in the 2016 season.

The Xcel Chassis Tour Division boost the best of the best in the series. The points battle since mid season has been within 50 points for three drivers. Nathan Brinker, current points leader, will have to fend off Jonathan Josko. He is only 10 points out of the championship. Third place contender, Richie HItzler, sits 31 points away from a championship. The tension will be high and the racing will be action packed.

I-88 Speedway Promoters Jamie and Denise  Page, along with their staff, provide a great venue for the 600 modifieds and a track with multiple grooves.  Check for updates on xcelchassis.com.
