A Mid-Summer Nights Scream At Borgers

As storms rumbled throughout northeast Pennsylvania the management at Borgers Speedway took on Mother Nature and won. The screams from the fans drowned out  any noise that Mother Nature could dish out as the near capacity crowd was treated to some of the fiercest action of the 2010 racing season.
The highlight of the night was Twin 15 lap features for the Rookie 270 Sprints.  In feature number one the storm front that came screaming through was the speedster from Bath, Pa Zach Weidner.  Zach has been turning faster laps each week and this race was all his from the drop of the green.  Weidner took an early lead and set a blistering pace to win his first Rookie 270 Sprint feature of his career since moving up from the Quarter Midgets.  As the laps wound down tiffany Wambold who came from the rear after an early race tangle tried every trick in the book to get by Weidner but it was not to be.  Wambold finished second followed by Rachel Godusky.
In feature number two Rachel Godusky finally got the monkey off her back and took starter Richard Raidline’s checkered flag.  Newcomer Luke Krobath finished a respectable second with Tiffany Wambold third.
Rachel Godusky was the overall Rookie 270 Sprint winner and with another outstanding performance Zach Weidner finished second.  Point leader tiffany Wambold finished third.
The flashes in the Hoosier 270 Sprint main were not lightning but JJ Uliana.  Last year Uliana won a Friday night 270 main with a borrowed motor but his quest was for a Saturday night feature win.  Uliana  stormed around the 1/7 mile oval with determination to get the job done.  Kaitlyn Oswalt chased Uliana most of the race but was finally overtaken by Pat Bealer.  Ed Kenderdine slipped by for third spot after coming from the rear due to numerous mishaps.  Darin Bartholomeu also got by Oswalt for fourth  with Kaitlyn finishing a strong fifth.
The real storm hit with all it’s fury in AllStar Slingshot action with Terry Frey picking up his first win of the season.  Frey had victory in his grasp a number of times this season but tonight he was not to be denied.  Cody Kline was glued to Frey’s back bumper the entire race and soon Kurt Bettler made it a vicious three car battle for the lead.  The three leaders took the white flag and got together coming out of turn two.  Frey and Kline recovered and drag raced to the finish line with Frey winning by a half a car length.  Brandon Azzalina got by Bettler to finish third.
The mini twister hit with John Dvorscak taking his second Jr. Sllingshot win of the year. John jumped into the lead from his second place starting spot on lap two and never looked back.  Amber Oraschin dogged Dvorscak most of the race but Joseph Infante came on strong to nip Amber on the white flag lap.  Infante finished second with Amber Oraschin third.
In the make up feature for the Jr. Slingshots “All Hail Broke Loose” in the name of  Bobby Kibler Jr as he made his third visit to Borgers Speedway’s victory lane.  Kibler quickly built up a straightaway lead over John Dvorscak who finished second followed by Joseph Infante.
Co-promoters Steve Heckman and Rich Raidline along with Borgers Speedway owners Glenn and Ruth Borger and the entire Borgers Speedway family would like to express their deepest sympathy to Friday night announcer and Saturday night starter Bobby Stull on the loss of his mother.  Thoughts and Prayers to Bobby and the entire Stull family.
