KIRKWOOD, NY…The American Racer Cup Weekend designed for the “Weekly Racer” will take place Friday, October 10th and Saturday, October 11th at Five Mile Point Speedway.  The first entries for the Modified portion of the weekend on Saturday, October 11th have been filed.  The Modified race will pay a cool $5,500 to win and $500 to take the green for 55 laps of racing on the quarter mile oval.  Grandview Speedway regular Duane Howard is the official American Racer Cup Overall Modified Champion for 2014.

Anthony Perrego a seven time Modified feature winner at Five Mile Point Speedway filed the first official entry for the Modified portion of the weekend at Five Mile Point Speedway.  Perrego, a Modified rookie at the speedway has taken the northeast by storm this year with multiple big wins.  He was also the American Racer Cup Track Titlist at Five Mile Point Speedway.

Since that first entry was received Barry White another Five Mile Point Speedway track regular has filed his entry.  White has a streak of at least win a season at the quarter mile oval over the past several years.  He has yet to gather a win in 2014 and would certainly like to make the American Racer Cup event the first.

Keith Hoffman, a long time Modified campaigner from Pennsylvania will be making a rare Five Mile Point Speedway start as he too has filed an entry.  Hoffman has logged feature wins throughout the Pennsylvania circuit and New Jersey and is currently part of the successful promotional team at the Bridgeport Speedway (NJ).

Randy Chrylser from Lewiston, New York is a top campaigner out of the western part of the state.  He too has filed an early entry to date.  Chrysler had an impressive sixth place finish at Five Mile Point Speedway in the RoC 100 lap event in April.

The Modified portion of the two day weekend will take place on Saturday, October 11th.  All of the champions from the participating American Racer Cup tracks will also do battle in a special Champions Dash.  That race will pay $2,000 to win for only 15 laps of racing.  All of the other participants in the race will get a free American Racer Tire courtesy of Lias Tire.

All of the action of the American Racer Cup Weekend will get underway on Friday afternoon with an open paid practice session for all weekend teams.  On Friday night the Race of Champions Dirt Sportsman tour will be in action with a 40 lap event paying $2,000 to win.  There will also be an American Racer Cup Dash for the participating tracks Sportsman Champions.  That 15 lap event will pay $1,000 to win.  Also on Friday will be the Empire State Series for IMCA Modifieds, Factory Stocks and Excel 600 c.c. Modifieds.  The Crate Sportsman will have plenty of incentive in bonuses and guaranteed starting spots to be part of the Friday RoC Sportsman event.

On Saturday the Modifieds will be in action for their program at night with the 55 lapper paying a minimum of $5,500 to win.  The RoC Street Stocks, Four Cylinders, Excel 600 c.c. Modified Tour and Tobias’ SpeedSTR’s will be in action.  There will be a chicken barbecue during the day with preliminary qualifying action in the afternoon.

Throughout the 2014 season there have been qualifying races to lock in a minimal amount of guaranteed starting spots.  The next spots will be given away at the Grandview Speedway for the 76er Weekend.  On Friday the RoC Sportsman will be in action at Grandview and the winner of the 76er will also be locked in.  So far Tyler Siri, Vic Coffey, Dan Pompey and Brian Malcolm have locked in Modified spots.  Brad Szluewski has a Sportsman spot locked up.
