HAGERSTOWN, MD -  Leaving April behind after four Saturdayís of racing, Hagerstown Speedway heads to a busy May with another full schedule of different programs. 

May 4 begins the month with a program honoring those that, in many cases, donít get the proper recognition for what they do, whether paid or volunteer. Itís Fire/Rescue Appreciation Night with all personnel getting Free Admission with identification plus free hot dogs for First Responders from 5-6:30 p.m..  It is also ARCH (Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown) Fan Night with the Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic late model sportsman, Ernie Dís pure stocks, D & D Auto Recycling hobby stocks plus a National Speed Supply/Padula Motorsports four cylinder special event with time trials to set the qualifying order.

There will be no racing the following weekend May 10 which is the two day Hagerstown City FiremanĎs 8th Annual Bonanza Extravaganza with more than $825,000 in prizes. 

Back into action on May 18th, is another night special night beginning with a 5:30 LIVE concert inside the grandstand area featuring the gospel group, the Jacobs Brothers.  Bring your church bulletin for half price admission. There is free admission for those that defend or have defended our freedom. Itís Armed Forces Appreciation Night with any member or former member of the military getting in free with proper identification. Itís also Student Night with any student showing proper identification also getting in free.  On the track, itís a special event for the late model sportsman, the 31-lap Bill Bowman $1,000 to win event accompanied by the pure stocks, hobby stocks and four cylinders. Wayne Walls Jr. is the defending winner of the Bowman event.

On Friday, the 24th, the Three State Flyers Buchanan Auto Stores late model return for their second event of the season in combination with a two night weekend with Winchester.  Jason Covert won the earlier March 30 event. Additionally, for the first time since September 2010, the (Silver Spring) Super Sportsman division returns to Hagerstown and thereís no doubt this will be an excellent program. 

Itís a two night race weekend with the final program, $7 Fan Appreciation Night, held Saturday the 25th. In addition to the late model sportsman, pure stocks and hobby stocks, in the first of two appearances, the All American Outlaw Series join the program with the Smokey Snellbaker Memorial. To close out the night, the Blue/Gray Towing and Recovery Four Cylinder Demo Derby will be held.
