HAGERSTOWN READY FOR AN AWAITING APRIL

HAGERSTOWN, MD – With two scheduled events lost to weather and two others sandwiched between them that ran under ideal March conditions, Hagerstown Speedway/Dirt Capitol LLC is ready to move on to hopefully better conditions in April and look forward to summer months on the horizon.

Kicking off the first April program this Saturday, the 6th, will be Autograph Night with the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Late Models, Malloy Ford of Winchester, VA Late Model Sportsman, K.Lynn Management Pure Stocks and Mason Dixon Auto Auction Hobby Stocks in competition.

With one points race in the records, Mason Zeigler, Justin Weaver, Mike Corbin and Kenny Thomas are the respective leaders moving into the program.

On Wednesday the 9th, the speedway will be available from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. for the first Test and Tune session of the season. Race cars from other tracks are also invited to participate.

On April 12th, in order to have a guaranteed position for later in the fall, the Small Car Nationals Qualifier under Home Track Rules will be held for the Cochran Auctioneer Four Cylinders. Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Pure Stocks and Hobby Stocks are also in action.

The evening will also include another Kids Club Night special with the Easter Egg Hunt. Children 11 and under should get signed up. There will be another two bicycles given away along with other prizes during the evening. Additionally, there are still some other items being worked on with speedway sponsors for the Kids Club.

Moving on to the 19th, a four division show is scheduled featuring the Late Models, Pure Stocks, Hobby Stocks and Triangle Mania for the Four Cylinders in the Spring Championship.

Triangle Mania is a three track shootout points series for the four cylinders that can run their home track rules at each track.  Two races each are featured at Hagerstown, Roaring Knob, and Path Valley with a points fund at the end of the series. Hagerstown’s other date is June 28th.

April closes out on Friday the 25th with one of the long time mainstay events, the 33rd Annual Stanley Schetromph Founders Day Classic, in memory of the gentleman who built Hagerstown Speedway. It will be a three division night featuring local Late Model drivers taking on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in a 50-lap event paying $10,000 to win along with the Pure Stocks in a Double Point Spring Championship with a new division, the Rookie Cars, making their first appearance. Newport, KY’s Jimmy Owens is the defending winner after leading the final 45 laps and claiming his first ever Hagerstown triumph.

This event is combined with a Saturday Lucas Oil appearance at Roaring Knob and has an additional $1,000 BONUS to the driver with the highest finish. Drivers must have raced both Lucas shows and raced two events prior to the 25th date at Hagerstown and Roaring Knob.
