HAGERSTOWN, MD – Just losing premier event, the Stanley Schetrompf Founders Day Classic Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series event to heavy showers that arrived on Saturday, Hagerstown Speedway/Dirt Capitol LLC is moving into May with several potent programs awaiting.

Beginning with this Saturday, May 3rd, a regular program of Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic Late Models, K. Lynn Pure Stocks, Mason Dixon Auto Auction Hobby Stocks and Cochran Auctioneers Four Cylinders along with a double point Spring Champion event for the Malloy Ford Late Model Sportsman is on tap. 

There will be no racing the following weekend May 9th which is the two day Hagerstown City Fireman‘s 9th Annual Bonanza Extravaganza with more than $825,000 in prizes. 

On Wednesday the 14th, the speedway will be available from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. for the second Test and Tune session of the season. There were 37 race cars that took advantage of last months session.

On Saturday the 17th, it’s Student Night, Armed Forces/Law Enforcement, Fire /Rescue, ARCH Appreciation Night with identification from any of the aforementioned organizations getting $2.00 off the general admission price. The Late Model Sportsman will compete for $1,000 to win and are joined by Late Models, Pure Stocks, Four Cylinders and a double point Hobby Stock Spring Championship event.

Heading into the Memorial Day weekend with a three day program, the Ernie Jones 22 for Late Models with $2200 to win highlights Friday’s program on the 23rd with double points. Jones, a former racer and brother of Dirt Capitol LLC co-promoter Rick Jones, lost a long battle to cancer in February 2012. The Super Sportsman open wheeled racers also will compete that evening along with the Hobby Stocks and Rookie Cars.

Night two on Saturday, the NDRL/NE (National Dirt Racing League North East) makes its first appearance for Late Models in the Hagerstown/Roaring Knob Challenge @Hagerstown (Show up Points). Late Model Sportsman, Pure Stocks, Hobby Stocks and Four Cylinders also are on the program and winners of these support divisions are guaranteed a starting spot in Sunday’s features.

Sunday, the 25 will showcase the Late Model Sportsman in the Malloy Ford $1,000 to win event.  Pure Stocks, Hobby Stocks, Four Cylinders and Rookie Cars are also competing. Veterans will receive half off the $10 admission. 

The month concludes Saturday the 31st with night two of the Appalachian Mountain Dirt Late Model Speedweek Series. Jason Covert is the defending winner. The Pure Stocks will compete in a double point Summer Championship with Hobby Stocks and Four Cylinders also on the program.
