HAGERSTOWN, MD: Hagerstown Speedway/Dirt Capitol LLC has been forced to cancel tonight’s race program as Mother Nature has won again.

For the second time in five weeks, the speedway is flooded out following torrential downpours in the area around, west and northwest of Hagerstown and the speedway late Thursday afternoon. Anywhere from three to five inches of rain fell in a short amount of time and quickly sent streams over flowing and subsequently overfilling the adjacent Conococheague Creek close to five feet above flood stage. This resulted in water filling up the pit area and onto the track. At noon, water still covered more than half of the infield area.

Photos showing the flooding issue are posted on the speedway’s website.

Hopefully and with weather again permitting, the Dirt Capitol will return Wednesday June 18 with the Test and Tune that was postponed from last Wednesday when rain interfered.

Next Saturday June 21, Dirt Capitol’s next program is a regular show of Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Pure Stocks, Hobby Stocks and Four Cylinders.
