POINT CHAMPION EVENTS AND SMALL CARS HIGHLIGHT SEPTEMBER RACING AT DIRT CAPITOL

 

HAGERSTOWN, MD. – With four of five Saturday’s racing events held at Hagerstown Speedway/Dirt Capitol during August with favorable weather conditions, September begins the downhill slide towards season’s end.

This Saturday, September 6th, it’s ARCH (Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown) Night with $5.00 of for all ARCH members.

It also is Champions Night for all classes with double points on the line for the final point nights to determine champions in each division. The Late Models will head up the program with a $2,500 to win feature while the Late Model Sportsman have $1,000 awaiting the winner. Winners in the Pure Stocks, Hobby Stock and Four Cylinders also will be picking up extra cash.  

The following weekend, September 12-13 is the 8th Annual Small Car Nationals with qualifiers held in April and just last week for guaranteed staring spots in the features. Chad Myers and Justin Weaver won those Late Model Sportsman events with Mike Corbin winning twice in the Pure Stocks therefore Darrin Younker received last week’s position after finishing second. Gary Proctor and Jason Sarver hold the spots for Hobby Stocks and Kevin Thomas and Frankie Gordon earned the Four Cylinder positions. 

Friday’s program will be qualifying night with time trials scheduled for the Late Model Sportsman and Pure Stocks with the top four locked into the features. Heat races follow for those divisions along with the Hobby Stocks, Four Cylinders and Rookie Cars. All features will be heads up from the qualifying events. 

Saturday, any B mains will be run first if needed to fill any starting lineups. Then follows the 35-lap feature for Late Model Sportsman, 25 for Pure Stocks, 20 for Hobby Stocks, 15 for both the Four Cylinders and Rookie Cars. The features will be followed by a Four Cylinder Demo Derby that will pay $500 to win.

Justin Weaver (LMS), Mike Corbin (PS), Gary Proctor (HS) and Cody Kershner (4C) are the defending winners. 

Should rain interfere with the program, Sunday, the 14th at 5:00 p.m. will be used as a rain date.
