MOTHER NATURE PUSHES BACK SMALL CAR NATIONALS UNTIL SUNDAY

 

HAGERSTOWN, MD: With a wet Saturday forecast for a week, Mother Nature held true to her prediction and now has forced Hagerstown Speedway/Dirt Capitol to reschedule the 8th Annual Small Car Nationals until tomorrow, which was the scheduled Rain Date.

Racing gets back under way Sunday with Pit Gates opening at 3 p.m., Grandstands at 4 p.m., Warm-ups are at 5:30 and racing gets underway at 6 p.m. Forecast is Mostly Sunny with 70 degrees.

Aside from the B-Mains that were on today’s schedule to complete fields for Late Model Sportsman and Pure Stocks, qualifying was complete with lineups already posted for the Four Cylinders, Hobby Stocks and Rookie Cars.

Bobby Beard set fast time for the Late Model Sportsman with a 19.772 second lap while Mike Walls came in with a lap of 22.937seconds for the Pure Stocks. The top four in both Late Model Sportsman and Pure Stocks were locked into the feature lineups.

Late Model Sportsman are competing for $2,500 in a 35-lap event, $2,000 for 25 laps in the Pure Stocks, $1,000 for Four Cylinders 15 laps, $650 for Hobby Stocks 20 laps and $400 for Rookie Cars 15 laps. Those features will be followed by a Four Cylinder Demo Derby paying $500.

Defending winners are Justin Weaver, Late Model Sportsman; Mike Corbin, Pure Stocks; Gary Proctor, Hobby Stocks and Cody Kershner, Four Cylinders.
