HAGERSTOWN, MD: Qualifying for the 9th Annual Small Car Nationals King of the Capitol event was completed Friday evening at Hagerstown Speedway/Dirt Capitol with B mains required yet this evening for Late Model Sportsman and Pure Stocks to set the remainder of the starting fields. 

Overall, Steve Axtell Jr. was the quickest in time trials for the Late Model Sportsman with a 19.578 second lap while Zane Weicht was the fastest of several Pure Stock drivers to bypass the track record. Weicht’s lap was turned in 21.968 seconds.

The $2,000 to win Late Model Sportsman 30-lap feature will head to the green flag with Justin Weaver and Roy Deese Jr. on the front row and Scott Palmer from third position.

The 20-lap Pure Stock $1,500 to win feature will have Mike Franklin on the pole, flanked by Greg Moore. Chris Ebersole and Mike Potts occupy the second row.

Four Cylinders heats were won by Jason Stoner and Allen Whitt Jr. and they will occupy the front row in the $700 to win 15-lap feature

The 15-lap $650 to win Hobby Stock field is ready to go with Mike Duck on the pole and Jonathan Raley alongside while Marshall McMullen takes off from the third spot.

Qualifications for the 15-lap $400 to win Rookie Car feature has Garrett Watkins and Eric Boozel on the front row.

Drivers with guaranteed starting positions won in two Nationals Qualifier events are Justin Weaver and Rodney Walls (Late Model Sportsman), Craig Parrill and Mike Corbin (Pure Stock) and Ed Pope and Gary Proctor (Hobby Stock) if needed. . 

The Nationals start at 6 p.m. this evening with hot laps and followed by the B-Mains and features; 30 laps for Late Model Sportsman, 20 for Pure Stocks, 15 for Hobby Stocks, Four Cylinders and Rookie Cars. The All American Outlaws will also be competing and a $400 to win Four Cylinder Demo Derby will close out the program.
