KIRKWOOD, NY…The American Racer Cup Weekend designed for the “Weekly Racer” will take place Friday, October 10th and Saturday, October 11th at Five Mile Point Speedway.  The race weekend is a culmination of the season long American Racer Cup program that took place at numerous northeast weekly venues.  This Friday and Saturday the Freedom 76 Weekend at Grandview Speedway will award two guaranteed starting berths to the Five Mile Point Speedway event.  Grandview Speedway drivers Duane Howard (Modifieds) and Jared Umbenhauer (Sportsman) were overall winners of the American Racer Cup for 2014.

On Friday the Race of Champions Dirt Sportsman Tour will join the ARDC Midgets with the first ever Friday night lead in event for the Freedom 76 at Grandview Speedway.  The RoC Sportsman will run in “The 38er” on Friday evening – 38 laps, $1,500 to win.  The race winner will be locked in to a Guaranteed Starting Spot in the RoC Sportsman event at Five Mile Point Speedway on Friday, October 10th.  That race will pay a minimum of $2,000 to win and be part of the American Racer Cup Weekend.  That Friday will also see a 15 lap American Racer Cup Champions Dash that will pay $1,000 to win.  Jared Umbenhauer is now locked in to that event.

Claude Hutchings, Jr. a weekly runner at the Utica Rome Speedway is defending Race of Champions Dirt Sportsman Tour Champion.  He had already locked up the RoC North Region Championship and is now chasing current RoC South Region Point leader Brandon Walters entering this Friday night’s event.  This Friday’s Grandview Speedway event will serve as a RoC South Region Sportsman point race for the Sportsman teams.

This Saturday the Grandview Speedway Freedom 76 will once again award $25,000 to the race winner of the annual fall event.  The winner will also be locked in to the Modified portion of the American Racer Cup Weekend at Five Mile Point Speedway on Saturday, October 11th.  That race will pay a minimum of $5,500 to win and $500 to take the green.  The American Racer Cup Champions Dash for Modifieds will also take place that day with $2,000 to the winner of the 15 lap dash among the weekly cup track champions. Duane Howard is now locked in to that event.

Throughout the 2014 season there have been qualifying races to lock in a minimal amount of guaranteed starting spots.  The next spots will be given away at the Grandview Speedway for the 76er Weekend.  So far Tyler Siri, Vic Coffey, Dan Pompey and Brian Malcolm have locked in Modified spots.  Brad Szluewski has a Sportsman spot locked up.
