Stewart Friesen to Compete In Race of Champions 200 at Oswego on Sunday

Date: 9/10/2014 5:19:37 PM

Three time Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour Champion and two time Syracuse 200 winner Stewart Friesen is expected to make his first start in an asphalt at Oswego Speedway Modified this Sunday for the Sunoco Race of Champions 200.

Friesen, from Sprakers, New York is one of the most versatile drivers in all of racing already winning in both Modified and 360 Sprint Car competition this season.  Plans are for Friesen to test on Friday at Oswego Speedway in a Rick Kluth owned car.  Kluth from Brockport, New York is expected to field three cars this weekend including one for the legendary Hemi Cuda Racing Team of Tommy Cloce and Canadian entry Mikael LaBreche.

Friesen will have a busy weekend after testing on Friday he will travel down to central Pennsylvania to compete in the "Freedom 76" dirt Modified event at the Grandivew Speedway.  He will then travel back north to compete in his first ever Sunoco Race of Champions 200 event.

This weekend could be huge for Friesen but it will be hard to top his past seven days.  Last week he and Jessica Zemken were married on Thursday prior to the couple finishing 1 and 2 in the Cole Cup 360 Sprint event at the Utica Rome Speedway.  Friesen pocketed $10,000 for the win in that race. Zemken ran in several Super Modified races earlier this season and is always a threat to win on the 360 Sprint circuit.

Stewart Friesen is the nephew of the late Alex Friesen.  Current Race of Champions owner Andrew Harpell and Alex Friesen brought the Race of Champions to Oswego Speedway in 1996.
