JUNE 30TH RACE OF CHAMPIONS DIRT MODIFIED TOUR EVENT AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY OFF THE TOUR SCHEDULE DUE TO A DATE CONFLICT
2015 TOUR OPENER READY TO GO AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY  SATURDAY, MARCH 28TH

BINGHAMTON, NY…The Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour race scheduled for Tuesday, June 30th at the Grandview Speedway has been removed from the 2015 tour schedule.  The Roger’s family, Thunder on The Hill Promoter Bob Miller and Race of Champions Tour Director Andrew Harpell are in full agreement on the schedule change.

The race date this year became a direct conflict with a date scheduled on the same night for the Super Dirt Series at the Oshweken Speedway.  The Grandview Speedway date was originally listed incorrectly on the northeast “Modified Master Schedule” as a Wednesday date.  This left the Tuesday date open for the change this year on the Super Dirt Series for the Ohsweken event.

Race of Champions Tour Director Andrew Harpell commented, “We had the date incorrectly listed this past December and this is where the conflict originated.  Each of the past years we have worked closely with DirtCar and the Super Dirt Series to avoid conflicts with the Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour.”  “The mistake was solely mine on having Grandview on the wrong day and that provided an open slot for the Ohsweken Speedway date.”  “When it was realized Bob Miller (Thunder on the Hill promoter) and I discussed the options which included possibly giving all of the teams a “drop finish” option this year.”  “Ultimately we decided by not making it a Race of Champions point race this year it would be in the best interest of everyone involved.”  “We maintain our status of trying to avoid any scheduling conflicts.”

The possibility remains of a Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour event still occurring at a later date this season and the Race of Champions Dirt Sportsman Tour remains scheduled for the Friday evening of the “Freedom 76”.

Harpell added, “We have a great relationship with Bob and the Roger’s family.  Like the Roger’s family I own a race track (Five Mile Point Speedway) that has been part of my family for 65 years.  I appreciate all they do each week to keep that tradition going at Grandview Speedway and we would never want to put together an event that would not maintain our past standard of great RoC events at their facility.”

Thunder on the Hill Promoter Bob Miller commented, “We have had a great relationship with Andy and fully expect the RoC to be back next season regardless of the outcome of this year.”  “Like Andy we don’t want to make teams have to choose between events on Tuesday, June 30th.

The Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour will officially begin the 2015 season on Saturday, March 28th at the Bridgeport Speedway for the “60 Over” Remembered event honoring the legendary Doug Hoffman.  The event has a rain date of Sunday, March 29th with also the possibility of Sunday, April 5th if needed.  Track crews at Bridgeport Speedway were able to work on the speedway surface on Wednesday and fully expect to be ready for the huge opening day event.  For more information on the Race of Champions please phone 607-775-5555 or log on to www.rocdirt.com for more.
