FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE ROAD TO THE FINALE STARTS AT THE UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY WITH BIG TUESDAY NIGHT SHOW FEATURING $3,000 TO WIN EVENTS FOR THE MODIFIEDS AND 360 SPRINTS

VERNON, NY-Utica-Rome Speedway will close the doors on its 2015 racing season on Tuesday, October 6 with a special three division midweek show.  Billed as Tuesday Night Thunder, the event sponsored by A-Verdi Container Storage and Clinton Tractor & Implement Company, will feature $3,000 to win events for the Big Block/Small Block Modifieds and 360 Sprints plus a rare appearance by the Mod Lites for a $1,000 to win main event.

The Modifieds will compete in 30 lap distance, a normal Sunday main event, but this time it will pay $3,000 to win instead of the weekly $2,000 to win.  Matt Sheppard dominated much of the action in 2015 as he claimed the 2015 Utica-Rome Speedway Stampede Steakhouse Modified track championship over Larry Wight, Mike Mahaney, Pat Ward, and Vic Coffey.  Sheppard’s title was worth $13,000 plus he will get another $6,000 for finishing second in New York State NASCAR Whelen All-American Series standings.  The Modified field for this event looks to be a diverse field with many unexpected invaders who will be in the area for the final Super DIRT Week event at the NYS Fairgrounds.  The Modifieds will compete under the normal weekly rules which are available on the speedway website.

Always providing exciting action when they visit the Action Track of the East, the 360 Sprints will return for the final time in 2015.  Like the Modifieds, the Sprints will race for a special $3,000 to win payday with the A Main being 25 laps.  Many of the top Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints, Patriot Sprint Group, and United Racing Club teams are expected to make their way to the Vernon oval for the special event.  Stewart Friesen has won two of the three visits by the Sprints in 2015 while Chuck Hebing was the victor in the remaining event.

The Mod Lites will complete the three division show as they will try to tackle the fast half mile in a rare stop at the Utica-Rome Speedway.  This will be the highest paying Mod Lite event ever at the Vernon oval as the main event will pay $1,000 to win.  With that kind of purse, many of the region’s top Mod Lite competitors are expected to find their way to the Utica-Rome Speedway.

Campers will be welcome at the Utica-Rome Speedway as many will be in the area awaiting for the gates to open for them at the New York State Fairgrounds for the Finale at the Fairgrounds Super DIRT Week event.  Anyone wanting to set up early and stage on the speedway grounds until Wednesday morning are more than welcome to do so.

Gates for this special midweek event will open at 4:30 p.m. with racing slated to begin at 7 p.m.  The schedule may altered slightly on the day of the event, depending on how teams make it through inspections at the fairgrounds.  Admission for adults will be $22 with kids 16 and under admitted for free.  Pit admission will remain at the normal weekly rate with competitors set at $27 and non-participants at $32.  No NASCAR license is required for this event.
