HONOR A LOVED ONE AT CANANDAIGUA SPEEDWAY

CANANDAIGUA, NY- Next Saturday, Corvettes by Turner presents the Land of Legends Friends and Hero's Memorial. The DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds will headline the program with a 50-lap main event that includes the Dig Safely Bonus Bucks program. Double DIRTcar sportsman features are also on the card along with the DIRTcar Stock Cars and the Factory Stocks/Pure Stocks in a double point's night that should make for some terrific side-by-side action.

Memorial Weekend 4-lap 'Dash for Cash' races add to the excitement at Canandaigua Speedway on May 29.  Fans are encouraged to participate in the event by donating money to a specific event. 100% of all donations will be given back to the drivers as part of their prize money. In addition you will have the opportunity to memorialize someone special with a PA announcement. It's a great way to honor someone special and give your thanks to the drivers. Donate to a heat race, feature or one of the special dash events.  Pick your class, pick your event and honor our fallen heroes. The extra money events will make Memorial Day weekend extra special at Canandaigua Speedway.

Track management not only created the concept, but Cory Reed, Joe Skotnicki and Jeff Hachmann were the first to make personal donations to the overall dash money in honor of all the fallen track officials and drivers.  "This is just another way we can give back to the sport that we love", said DIRTcar Northeast's Cory Reed.  This is extra-special for Jeff Hachmann as he will be honoring his dad, a longtime employee and supporter of Upstate NY DIRTcar racing, who was lost just over two years ago after a battle with cancer.

In memory of Street Stock racer Ron Lawson Jr. and long-time crew member Shane Palmer, the Stock Cars will participate in a four-lap dash for cash.  Ron Lawson Jr. and Shane Palmer put their heart and soul into making every race endeavor a success. Ron Jr. was a true racer who participated in the whole process, from start to finish. His # 25 DIRT Street Stock always showcased the pride he took in his many hours of labor. Shane was always there to lend a hand in any way he was able.  Sadly, both Ron Jr. and Shane were taken from us much too soon. Saturday's 'Dash for Cash' will honor their infectious smiles and the thrill they encountered during each race.  Along with the Stock Cars dash there will be a 'Big Block Dash for Cash' in memory of Don Post, long time media supporter of the speedway.  The 'Sportsman Dash for Cash' will run in memory of Fred Taney with donations from track officials.

Tickets for Saturday night's events are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, and $7 for students and active military. Kids 9 and under are FREE.  The family four pack (two adults, two students), that includes four hot dogs or burgers, four soft drinks and the chance to be upgraded to the tower, is $45.

For more information and to make a donation, please call the DIRTcar Northeast office at 315-834-6606.  You can also make a donation on Saturday at the event.
