Hamlin, PA - Hamlin Speedway Honors Champions And Place Winners At Eleventh Annual Awards Party Celebration

The 2016 Hamlin Speedway racing season officially came to a close on Saturday evening as a packed house of more than 250 people gathered together to celebrate the Hamlin racing season and to honor all of the 2016 seasonal speedway champions and place winners in a special evening of friendship and camaraderie. The S&S Speedway complex, located in Snydersville, provided the backdrop for a gracious and a fun filled evening in which the Smith Family completed their eleventh successful season of promoting the Hamlin facility, a closed speedway they took over the reigns of in 2006. The S&S Speedway Complex, a great place to party and have fun, allowed the young racers a great opportunity to go head to head with their rivals on the tricky D-shaped speedway and enjoy some great fun as well as take part in the awards ceremony.
The popular multi-division speedway, located in the heart of the Pocono Mountains, enjoyed a sixteen event season in 2016 season with great results as the driving stars at the speedway rose to the occasion to shine brightly for the great racing fans who came out to witness the thrill a second excitement....Hamlin Style! The fabulous seven division weekly show proved to be over the top in racing excitement as more and more driving stars etched their names into the Hamlin Speedway record books. The thrill and excitement to compete at Hamlin brought many new faces and talented drivers to the forefront at the speedway including many drivers who transitioned from one division to another for the 2016 season. The solid family oriented atmosphere at Hamlin has placed the speedway in a league of it's own for small division racing with the Smith Family making a commitment to make their twelfth season in 2017 an even greater experience.
After a three hour afternoon period of allowing the drivers to trade paint and laughs on the S&S Speedway racetrack, a happy hour followed and a sumptuous buffet meal was enjoyed by everyone. Banquet Emcee and Speedway Announcer Steve Pados took to the stage to announce the award festivities. First and foremost, the success of any speedway promotion is determined by a loyal and hard working track staff and Pados was on-point to recognize the great work staff at Hamlin for their total work ethic and dedication to the speedway. Promoters Randy and Denise Smith, Allesson Rode, Olivia Mease, Becky Otto, Ron and Lori Brown, Russ Furry, Sara Silfee and the Concession Staff of Michelle Thoman, Trina Bechtold, Alex Thoman, Ninette Kurtz and Lisa Mills, Dale Kober, Billy Shepps, Shane Potonsky, Brandon Tuite, Dave Bechtold, Marc Daniels, Leanne Hearn, Wesley Hearn, Jill Brink, Linda Macomber, Tim Krysiuk, Barry Boyd and Steve Pados and the ERT Staff headed up by Tom Rode, Kyle Rode, Patrick Norman, Eugene Berry, Marc & Linda Feldman, Shawn Eckhoff, Jerry Grafal, Andrew Frailey, and Will Vitulli were recognized and thanked for helping make the Hamlin Speedway the most diversified racing facility in the country today. Each division was introduced by Pados with each individual recognized for his performance and awards for the champions and place winners included Trophies, Gift Certificates, Cash Awards and Photography.
The "Stars of Tomorrow" from the talented Junior Slingshot division were honored first with Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania talent Jared Silfee claiming the track title at Hamlin after finishing runner-up in 2015. Place winners included "Junior Excitement" JJ Rice, "Lil Miss" Shelby McLaughlin, Emily Fleming, "The Hurricane" Hunter Lapp, Adam Buchel, Colton Geary, "TVD" Tanner Van Doren and Tommy Stillo. 38 Junior Slingshot drivers were in competition during the season that produced four different feature event winners.
The next division honored was the Rookie Wingless 600 Sprints and claiming the title in 2016 was Kunkletown, Pennsylvania driving talent "Lord of the Ring" Jakson Ring, who transitioned from the Stage One Modified division in 2015 to the 600 Sprints. Ring won in a very tight battle with "The Wild Child" Geordan Marrero and the difference came down to just four points in Ring's favor. Additional award winners for the fast growing division included "The Young Rustler" Jacob Balliet, "The Mack Attack" Mack Brink, Noah Zielinski, Mikey Smith and "The Misfit" Tyler Galatro. A total of 60 drivers made up the 600 Sprint roster with fourteen different feature winners in 2016.
"The Ambassador" Wes Hearn captured Super Slinger track championship by 108 points in a fierce battle with "The Oxford Express" Dale Kober. The highly competitive Super Slingshot division was filled with jam-packed action throughout as 24 drivers and three different feature winners provided for a great season in the over 35 years of age division. Steve Pirone, Ryan Lacoe and Jim Conroy were additional place winners honored for their efforts.
A new champion emerged in the 270 Sprint division as three time consecutive champion Pat Bealer was only a part time performer in 2016. The change opened the door for Paul Richards Jr as the second generation Bloomsbury, New Jersey resident put together a six win season on his way to the Hamlin title. Richards also captured three non-wing events during the season. Twenty two drivers were in competition with five different feature winners during the season. Additional place winners included the runner-up "Deuce" Glenn Macomber, Connecticut's Kyle Ferrucci and "The Misfit" Tyler Galatro
A new champion was crowned for the Wingless 600 Sprint division as Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania's "Bad" Chad Sandt utilized a five win season to propel him to the track championship. The super competitive Wingless 600 Sprint season saw 66 drivers take up the challenge to test the Hamlin clay and six different winners made their way to the Hamlin Victory Circle. Additional place winners included the runner-up "The Nickel Man"Joel Smith, "The Flying Polishman" Sam Kravitsky, JD Casazza, "The Quack Attack" Ryan Quackenbush, and last year's champion "The Electric Man" Colin White.
"The Ambassador" Wes Hearn captured the All Star Slingshot championship at Hamlin, making him a two division champion in one season as he completed "The Summer Of Wes Tour." The spectacular racing division saw 69 drivers test their skills at the speedway with eleven drivers finding sweet success in victory lane. Additional place winners included runner-up "The Oley Jet" Brett Bieber, "Magic Shoes" Mike McLaughlin, "The Oxford Express" Dale Kober, "The Tornado" Tyler Peet, "The Highside Hustler" Justin Mills, Austin Silfee, "Midge" Chris Kurtz, "Kid Wicked" Tyler Pirone, The Bloomingburg Bullet" Taylor Mills, Alan "AJ Slideways" Selemba, Anthony Recchio, Amanda Buchel and Tess Horvath.
The Hampton RV and Trailer sponsored Stage One Modifieds completed their fifth season at the speedway and produced some memorable feature events throughout the season. Headed up by Northeast Modified legend "Rapid" Richie Smith, the sharp looking and quick throttled race cars were loaded with driving talent and the racers put it all on the speedway clay when in competition. Former National Junior Slingshot Champion Damon Paul from Stony Point, New York switched into the division for 2016 and used a five win season to capture the title over Bill Dianella. "The Beast" Chloe Andreas was a newcomer to the division and finished a solid third place in the final standings. 2015 Champion "The Nickel Man" Joel Smith was fourth with Will Casazza and "Mama J" Janell Geary also earning awards.
A great championship video was put together by track photographer Tim Krysiuk from Strictly Dirt Photography and well received by the crowd. A great raffle period closed the show with many prizes available and many people walking out of the arena with their arms filled with prizes.
