By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media

In Sunday, March 11th, Hamlin Speedway, hosted a very successful drivers and owners meeting. More than two hundred and fifty people were in attendance for the annual meeting to determine the plans and changes for what is expected to be another banner season for the Denise and Randy Smith promoted 1/5 mile clay oval racing facility. The meeting was held at the S&S Speedways complex in Stroudsburg. The 2018 racing season will serve as the thirteenth season in sequence for the Smith Family at the helm of the popular multi-division speedway located in the Pocono Mountains and all indications for another great season is anticipated with many new faces joining the Hamlin family of racers.

With twelve successful racing seasons behind them, the Smith Family and promotional staff will once again offer a full seasonal race schedule in 2018 for the seven divisions of racing that duke it out at the speedway every week. A series of special events for selected divisions will add to the excitement "The Pearl of the Poconos" facility provides.

The biggest news flashes of the day were the 270 Sprint Division will return to their original format and go back to being winged racers. It is hoped the change will return more of the 270 Sprint drivers back to the Hamlin racing grounds. The 600 Sprints will have a Hoosier open tire rule at the speedway for 2018. The Spring into Summer Sizzler will become a one day event in 2018 and take place on June 16th.

Promoters Denise and Randy Smith welcomed all racers at the meeting with special emphasis on the many newcomers who will be adding their own brand of excitement to the already abundant mix of talent that takes to the Hamlin clay each week. The Hamlin Speedway has served as a springboard for drivers who have cut their racing teeth at Hamlin and have moved on to other venues in the Tri-State area and keeps the roster of drivers changing with each passing racing season. The Smith Family will leave the welcome mat out for all racers who have yet to decide on their speedway of choice for the new season ahead.  With the landscape surrounding various raceways in the Northeast constantly changing, Hamlin Speedway has proven time and time again to promote and present some of the best racing available for small car division racing and each show is professionally produced with a great working staff on board to insure the success and the excitement of each passing week.  In 2017, the Hamlin driving roster regularly had representation from a six state area and offers one of the best purses in the area for small division race cars.
