Hamlin, PA - Hamlin Speedway Offers Slingshot National Tours On Saturday Night Finale
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media

After suffering from the whims of Mother Nature last week with a cancellation, the Hamlin Speedway will roar back into action Saturday night, September 15th, with a full night of racing activity scheduled in what will be the final event of another successful season for Hamlin Speedway Promoters Randy and Denise Smith. The Pocono Mountain 1/5th mile, clay cushioned oval will close the show on Saturday when it plays host to the touring stars of the National All Star Slingshot Tours, both the All Star Slingshots as well as the Junior Slingshot divisions. The upcoming program will be a regular seven division show with special emphasis on the highly competitive and popular Slingshot divisions. The event once again brings together the best of the best in the small car divisions as the stars of the National Slingshot Tour will head into town to challenge the stars of the Hamlin Speedway in an all out shoot-out with the Hamlin Speedway serving as the battleground for the showcased confrontation. The racing will feature the tour mandated dual heat format with the top 24-cars moving into a 50-lap feature event that will pay the winner $1,000.00 in victory circle. The evening of speed will be sponsored by S&S Speedways Indoor Go Karts located in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

The standing room only crowds all season long have been treated to some great racing action in all divisions as the solid roster of weekly participants have given their all to entertain their loyal racing fans. Additional new competitors have been arriving on a weekly basis to tackle the speedway regulars and with some tracks already shutting down for the season and this being a tour event, more talent is expected to be in the house to attempt to place their names in the Hamlin record books.

The invading stars of the Northeast Region of the Slingshot Tour are headed up by the current point leader and Hamlin Speedway regular Jared Silfee. Silfee leads the points with 730 markers to his credit. The reigning National Slingshot Champion, "The Oley Jet" Brett Bieber, currently sits in second place as he has earned 570 points to date. Bieber is also a former Hamlin Speedway track champion and five time National Champion and enjoys a great Hamlin track record. Former track regular, Milford, New Jersey's Kyle Herve returns to Hamlin as an invader and ranks third with 523 points and invader Joey Vaccaro is fourth with 343 points. Another Hamlin regular, "The J-Man" Jasper Ziegfuse, completes the top five with 322 tallies. CJ Fritz is another Hamlin regular and he heads up the second five with invader Austin Stufflet, Hamlin regular Tanner Jones, Dillon Emmons and regular Andrew Turpin completing the top ten.  Regular Hamlin Speedway stars include "The Oxford Express" Dale Kober, "The Ambassador" Wes Hearn, Scott Neary, Austin Silfee, Adam Buchel, Ashley Kober, Rachel Dickinson, "The Closer" Mike Fogler, "The Rockaway Rocket" Danny Buccafusca, and the recently returning Mills Brothers, Justin and Taylor and "The Flying Dutchman" Richie VanOrden.

The Junior Slingshot division is headed up by Hamlin Speedway regular Kasey Hufcut who has earned 750 points to date. Following him is Denver, Pennsylvania hot shoe Tyler Ulsh who has earned 670 tallies. Shelby McLaughlin, who is the reigning National Junior Slingshot champion as well as the 2017 Hamlin champion, has tallied up 540 points. Hackettstown, New Jersey star Aidan Donaldson is fourth with 500 points and "TVD" Tanner VanDoren is fifth with 450 points. Washington, New Jersey hot-rodder Brian Smith heads up the second five with 400 points followed by invader Wyatt Taschler, Jacob Taylor, invader Jax Yohn and New Yorker RJ Sherman, who is the grandson of former Orange County Modified star Stan Sherman.

The event will also end the points for the speedway's seven regular divisions. In the Junior Slingshot division, reigning champion Shelby McLaughlin holds a 64 point lead over Kasey Hufcut. In the All Star Slingshot division, Scott Neary holds a forty point margin over Jared Silfee and 92 point advantage over Dale Kober. In the Super Slinger division, Dale Kober has dominated the action and will walk away with yet another championship to add to his already long list of achievements at Hamlin. The 270 Sprint division has reigning champion Glenn Macomber holding on to a 76 point margin over Alex Reinsmith, who has come on strong in recent outings. The JPA Masonry Sponsored Rookie 600 Sprint division shows a great battle going on with Zack Weisenfluh holding a small nineteen point lead over Noah Zielinski heading into the final event. Reigning champion Mick D'Agostino is enjoying another great season in the Chad Wheeler Excavating 600 Sprints and holds a 119 point lead heading into the final night over Joel Smith. D'Agostino, who has branched out into sprint car racing in 2018, has claimed the Accord Speedway sprint title in his rookie season in the sprinters. The Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modified division shows Joel Smith leading the way with a 270 point margin to claim the division title once again.

For the final event, Jonathan Murphy from Florida Keys Air Conditioning will post a $500.00 prize to the winner of the Saturday night Stage One Modified feature event.
