5 Slingshot Tour Races Up For Grabs
Linda's Speedway will find some new faces this Friday,June 26th as the MA Silver Region racers hope to pick up some valuable points on the Batz Family operated 1/4 mile oval near Jonestown,PA.
The Linda's regulars are hoping to send the "invaders" home with some newfound respect for the weekly runners.The top 3 runners from the Earman Fulk Memorial all have a solid chance of taking home top honors.Chuck Whary,Alex Schoffstall and Brad Arnold will surely have their hands full as fellow weekly racers Gary & Kyle Hieber,Natasha Yiengst,Kevin Kreiser,Mike Glass& Matt Miller will team up to send the tour regulars Matt Mertz,Cody Kline,Bill Weaver,Brett Bieber,Kim Dornblaser and Jordan Henn on their way home without the big payout and points.
The 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Slingshots has seen a major increase in the amount of teams taking to the road with hopes of being a part of the nice point fund offered by Rich Tobias at Speedway Entertainment.The top 5 drivers in each region will have a monetary point fund check awaiting them at the January 9,2010 Awards Banquet at The Lantern Lodge on Rt 501 in Myerstown,PA.
The Great Lakes Region will find their way to Button Buck Speedway on Saturday June 27th as the 2nd round of points races for the Great Lakes Region as well as points for the National Championship are on the line with 2008 point champion and current Great Lakes Region and National Championship point leader Lucas Schott will be out to defend his Great Lakes Region crown aboard the Schott Hardwood Floors # 69.The Juniors and Pee Wee Classes also will take to the speedway in separate events for the weekly track points crowns.
Capping off a solid weekend of racing on Sunday ,June 28th is the well-run,newly restructured Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park hosting a MA Gold Region event along with the ever popular Junior National points race.The MA Gold Region currently has the closest battle for the prize package with "The Captain" Cody Kline holding a slight 10 point lead (266-256) over Hamlin Speedway regular Paul Ennes.Kline's owner / team mate Bill "The Dream" Weaver is not too far back in 3rd with 250 markers and coincidentally Ennes team mate Billy Clark holds down the 4th position with 242 points.Rounding out the top 5 is Sparrow Bush,NY teenager,Emily VanInwegen who has her blue # 19 garnering 186 points.
The Junior National could see positions change with each completed lap at Wyalusing as these young racers know how to mix it up during their 20 lap "A" Mains.TJ Lilly,Kenney Johnson,Billy Maynard,Jr hope to be in victory lane when the checkered is thrown.The Junior National Champion will find a nice $400 payout at the Slingshot by Tobias Awards Banquet as 2008 Junior National Champion Joseph Kata III moving to the regular class in 2009 leaving the point chase wide open.The Juniors made 1 appearance at Snydersville in 2009 with Eddie Reiley grabbing the win.The Junior National points are for drivers ages 8-13 with any driver turning 14 during the current racing season still eligible.
Empire Region teams will be heading to Accord on July 8th with the previously rescheduled Empire Region race at Paradise moved to August 15th.The Empire Region expands to Mass. and New Hampshire with back to back racers on July 24th & 25th.Gulf Coast racers will be looking to the state of Alabama as Penton Speedway has a July 18th National on the slate.
The tour season is now in high gear with many big paying events coming up as the 5th Annual Nostalgia National heads to the new Reading Fairgrounds on August 3 & 4th.
